Physically impossible and unsafe for use on ESD sensitive electronics
10 of 10 found this helpful These do not relieve static charge or prevent static charge accumulation. They are a hoax. Without a ground connection, you are defying fundamental physics and common sense. There are plenty these items being sold on other sites including Amazon, Best Buy, New Egg, and others. Go read the reviews. The ESD Association has issued warnings in their on-line magazine. We tested these at NASA and they failed miserably enough that papers have been written warning industry of their use. We dissected the HDE straps shown here and there have nothing more inside than a 1.0 M Ohm resistor attached to the back of the case and the screw on the front of the case. There is no grounding path or other method to dissipate a static charge and any claim of "passive ionization" is bogus.
Avoid ANY cordless/wireless anti-static/ESD wrist strap. The real ESD safe wrist straps with a properly connected grounding cord are cheap protection.

Super teaching tool.....and great for LPs too.
