Awesome affordable alternative to the full size Seiko Tuna
5 of 6 found this helpful Most of the key design elements at a glance of the full size Seiko Tuna can be had in this Baby Tuna for $100's less.
You get a similar very cool shrouded case design with off set crown near the 4 0'Clock position (more like 3:45), and the build is very solid and has a lower profile than the Tuna and sits very low and comfortably to the wrist.
At around 47mm case size, this watch wears surprisingly smaller than it may seem on paper. Thanks to the low profile close fitting case design to the wrist, and also the lugs are very short and don't extend much beyond the case dimensions giving it essentially a 48mm case size in any direction around the case.
Also, because the watch's bezel is not black or colored and it in the same brushed stainless steel finish as the overall case, the dial also appears smaller and thus the watch visually overall appears smaller than a lot of other 47mm watches would.
The watch design lends itself to being a true strap monster and can mix up and equally wear nicely with a bracelet (included), leather bands, NATO straps and rubber straps.
If you really like an industrial and tool looking watch that keeps great time with a solid in-house Seiko automatic movement (did I mention it's been holding an average of +1 to +2 secs per day?), you can't go wrong by spending $100's less for this Baby Tuna model compared to it's impressive big brother Tuna (ref sbbn033, for example).
Oh, need I mention the legendary Seiko lume that glows brightly and long?
I think this watch is unique and if you do your research and really look at the various design elements in other Seiko divers such as the Tuna & Monster, you may find this blends both into a unique watch design of it's own.
