Good quality for the price

I'm an assistant scoutmaster at our local Boy Scout troop and we use these tools to train our back country scouts. Needless to say teenage boys can be pretty hard on equipment, but they seem to hold up pretty well. The saw blade thickness vs length is about right to resist kinks and bends and is a relatively useful cutting tool up to about Ø4" wood. The knife blade is stainless steel Scandi-ground and is good and sharp right out of the package. The knife does not have a full tang and I don't recommend heavy batoning (we use an axe instead), I have taken both items hunting with me and find that they are also quite effective game processing tools. I've quartered about a dozen elk with the knife and I can personally attest that it is up to that task.

Amazing light from one small AAA battery

A small, well made durable light that runs off one AAA battery. Not the brightest light, however the beam is well focused so that the entire light spot is evenly illuminated from close range to 8-10 feet. I prefer this to a beam that projects a brighter but washed out unfocused spot. I was out on a hiking trail after dark and about an hour from my vehicle and I noticed that I could pick out the roots and rocks in the trail better than my friend's 3AAA headlamp. It wasn't brighter, just better focused and that made the difference when spotting the shadows cast by the rocks and roots in the trail. They make a two AAA battery version of this light with longer battery life (10 hours vs 2.5), but this light is smaller, fits in the pocket better and is more likely to be taken out and used.
