I'm a translator, scientist, artist, and collector of various and sundry curios. Many items for sale come from the personal estate of my father William Marshall (1924-2003), who is known best for playing Dr. Daystrom on Star Trek, Thomas Bowers on Bonanza, The King of Cartoons on Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and Blacula. As my username suggests, I am a Latinophile, and my favorite work is De Rerum Natura ("On the Nature of Things) by Titus Lucretius Carus.
I'm always open to reasonable offers for items for sale or hearing from fans of my father's works, so feel free to message me.

A Perfect Socket for A Dreamcast's CMOS Battery
I needed to replace my Sega Dreamcast's moribund, 17-year-old CMOS battery. Sega, in its infinite wisdom, decided to ship its final console to stores in a state such that the the battery itself was soldered to the controller board rather than a socket that would enable easy user replacement. So I purchased a rechargeable 2032 battery and this socket.
The desoldering process was somewhat painstaking, though not a delicate job that could easily render the controller board useless. With incredible ease, I soldered the three-prong battery socket to the board, popped this battery into the socket, and never since have had to reset the Dreamcast's internal clock upon startup.
This socket is a realiable device that houses the battery perfectly. It is important, however, to remember, that after the initial installation, the battery should enjoy a one-time, 2-hour charge, which is achieved by simply playing the Dreamcast or allowing the system to run for that time without a disc present in the drive.
Though the battery will require replacement several years down the line, the presence of this battery socket renders the process as simple as popping one battery out of and another into the socket. No additional soldering required.

An Excellent Replacement for the Sega Dreamcast's CMOS Battery
I needed to replace my Sega Dreamcast's moribund, 17-year-old CMOS battery. Sega, in its infinite wisdom, decided to ship its final console to stores in a state such that the the battery itself was soldered to the controller board rather than a socket that would enable easy user replacement. So I purchased this rechargeable battery and a socket.
The desoldering process was somewhat painstaking, though not a delicate job that could easily render the controller board useless. I soldered the three-prong battery socket to the board, popped this battery into the socket, and never since have had to reset the Dreamcast's internal clock upon startup.
This battery is a very reliable device that was constructed in Japan and has performed admirably. It is important, however, to remember, that after the initial installation, the battery should enjoy a one-time, 2-hour charge, which is achieved by simply playing the Dreamcast or allowing the system to run for that time without a disc present in the drive.
Like all batteries it will eventually need to be replaced, but the presence of a battery socket renders the process as simple as popping one battery out of and another into the socket.
This product performs very well with my 60mbps connection with Xfinity. The setup was incredibly easy. The unit uses very little power (30 watts). The modem has a convenient on/off switch for energy savings when not in use. I stream Amazon/Netflix/Hulu shows on it frequently and I have never experienced any bufferig issues or lag of any kind. The refurbished product I purchased runs like a new unit and saves me from having to lease a modem from Comcast for an extra $11 per month. There are truly no faults I have encountered and thus none to mention in this review. I highly recommend this product.
