Mintex are still a quality brand
These discs fitted perfectly and appeared well finished. New pads have now bedded in and the visible disc contact area looks even consistent with a good quality steel casting. Only time will tell whether corrosion resistance is good in the long run but the roads have been salted and so far all looks good.

Pressed/welded steel rather than cast steel - pros and cons but want to know before you buy
Mooge has a good reputation and advertise widely as providing parts to OE quality or specifications. However this track control arm is of pressed steel and welded construction rather than solid cast steel as OE on Vauxhall Agila for which bought (or Susuki Wagon R). The paint finish was poor. This would rust in a much shorter time than OE for which structural rust is just not an issue. Further the ball joint is not replaceable as is typical in pressed steel components so this possible advantage over OE is lost. A real concern is the engineering structural analysis in design of the pressed steel component and likely flaws introduced in welding - proper design process would be very costly so unless OE design for another car manufacturer the component may not be strong enoungh or may suffer fatigue failure in use. Conversely it is likely to fail by bending rather than snapping as a faulty (cheap and nasty) casting might and so fail more safely.
Strictly the definition of 'quality' relates to fitness for purpose and it is clear that the durabilty in terms of structural corrosion is poorer than OE while design issues may or may not have been addressed so this cannot be said to be a good quality product based on the information available. A cheap fix to a car neafr the end of its life maybe - but only maybe and this is a safety critical component.
