Futurama
Without a doubt an absolute masterpiece. This is Bebop Deluxe at their very best.Bill Nelson as you probably know went on to form Red Noise and also has done a lot of experimental synthesizer based solo work. However this is him at the top of his tree, making that Gibson E330 really sing. If you are not familiar with the man, in my opinion he was and probably still is one of the most under-rated guitarists of the 70's.This album is jam packed with gems,
Maid in Heaven, Love with the Madman, Swansong to name just a few. Bill Nelson's lyrics are something else - I always had a suspicion he was on something! A touch of darkness and certainly never bland. This was Bebop's 2nd release to follow the equally brilliant 'Axe Victim'. They followed up with 'Sunburst Finish' and then the glory days were on the wane. Other albums followed but this early era was them at the height of creative writing and dazzling guitar hooks. The other guys in the band were no amateurs either!! Whatever happened to Charlie? Boy!- did the authorities give that guy a hard time! Unobtrusively going about spanking that Bass - Now they let anybody in these days.

A piece of music that needs to be listened to at least once in it's entirety during ones life.
Superb piece of music by a contemporary modern composer. Particularly poignant at this moment in time with the Centenary of the cessations of fighting in the Great War.
