Great Legendary trash can Mac Pro
1 of 1 found this helpful I just got the basic late 2013 Mac Pro as I wanted to run Big Sur. I maxed the ram to 64gb, and though it’s understood that you can somewhat easily change out the processor, I will probably stick with my standard 3.7 Xeon quad core as I’m sure it’ll outperform the Mac mini late 2012 2.3ghz quad i7 that I used to have.
Even though it’s a discontinued black cylinder “trash can” style, there’s been criticism where this was a design flaw I guess, even internally. I think it’s innovative especially with the big fan on top and having air vented up from the base.
However, after a few days, here and there when streaming (and that’s after updating to the most current OS) this will crash at times. Nothing responsive, just have to hold the power down button. When I executed the power on self test, it all passed. Sometimes it’ll crash or be frozen the next day if you leave it on overnight.
Anyhow, I mean I bought this used and supposedly refurbished. But it was dusty; unsure if that had anything to do with it.
Nothing really happened with basic usage like browsing online and so forth. Just watching movies like Netflix off different browsers regardless if it’s chrome, safari or Firefox… it will crash once in a while.
I have read the base config with the base graphic cards aren’t the ones with problems but in the midrange and higher configured graphics card.
Well apparently I think IMHO it’s just this whole 2013 generation Mac Pro. It is possible, that it just won’t work will with the OSs that came out in 2020 and currently 2022, even though this mac is listed as being compatible. I’d say maybe it’ll run more flawlessly with an older os, especially from 2013-15. Just my two cents.
Anyways I horribly sold this on offerup and only made a trade of a Samsung 2021 smartphone with 256gb option. It was either that or 450 cash. Not much of a value plus I’m avoiding selling on eBay and dealing with fees after fees. eBay wasn’t as it used to back in the 2000s

Great handheld device. May need to research YouTube vids on installing some games from desktop mode
Great portable handheld gaming product, though it does take time to get used to. I use mines with a dualsense controller and plugged into an external monitor with a 3rd party dock (but any usb dock should work).
You’ll need to be techy or research on YouTube about Game compatibilities. Some games don’t run at all - take Max Payne 3 for instance as it was a previous purchase a couple years back when I did have an actual gaming PC, kept asking for a “Rockstar game launcher”. I had to uninstall.. and go to rockstars website and download the launcher and had to use desktop mode and follow tedious instructions. Then I had to purchase through the launcher itself so I bought this twice. Game runs fairly well and good- max resolution tho 720p.
Anyhow, the case I find weird as inside there’s no room for placing the charger, but a weird indentation on the back/bottom of the steam deck case with some rubber strap. Rather consider a 3rd party one.

Partially worked with my MacBook Pro; display worked fine just ramped up my cpu fan to high blast and operates slow
0 of 1 found this helpful So, I had a grade B MacBook Pro mid 2012. There were scratches and dents all over just about.
The screen had a minor scratch on the coating but nothing serious. I planned on selling it and tried upping the value. I had it professionally installed and it worked until the fan was high and computer acted slow.
They’d charge me labor to swap lcd assemblies again and so I decided to troubleshoot. Read forums of the same issue and they suggest disconnecting the iSight camera. It did work and laptop was running normal; just have to sacrifice the webcam.
I decided to swap back to the old lcd assembly following some YouTube vids and I can’t return this part any more
