Full Motion Double Arm TV Wall Mount Bracket 32 47 50 55 60" LED LCD Flat Screen

Very strong bracket but . . . ..

I am very pleased with this bracket, especially at the price. It makes you realise how major retailers are ripping off their customers big time with extremely high prices for TV brackets (and sound bars). The tilt mechanism is particularly well designed. I was pleased to find the item is supplied with sets of four M5, M6 and M8 screws and washers for attaching the TV. However it is vitally important to check the maximum length permissible to ensure the television is not damaged internally by the screws. I had to reduce the length of the screws. The supplied plastic spacers were too thick to give the specified 10mm to 12mm screw depth for my particular TV. The bracket is made of heavy gauge steel which I would expect to easily take the load of a large TV. However the part of the bracket that is screwed to the wall is only 175mm high. This means there will be very high force trying to pull the top fixing screws out of the wall especially when the bracket is on maximum extension away from the wall. Of course a child could hold the top of the TV, or even hang on it, and increase the force further. This bracket is therefore only really suitable for fixing to solid concrete block walls. Fixing to medium-density concrete block wall may be OK. Fixing to the wood of a stud wall would be OK if the wall was specifically built with studs in appropriate locations. In my view fixing to low-density thermal blocks would certainly not be strong enough. Fixing to a brick wall may be problematic because many bricks have frogs or holes through them and some bricks are too soft. The supplied fixing screws are hopelessly too thin, Using the plastic wall plugs provided can give quite good strength with appropriate screw size but really this item needs to be fixed to the wall with long heavy-duty sleeve anchors, at least for the upper fixings. Washers are needed for the wall fixings because the holes in the mounting plate are rather large; surprisingly the product is not supplied with washers for this purpose. I found the wall plate was not quite parallel to the movable plate. It was therefore necessary to fix the wall plate slightly off from horizontal. The inclusion of a magnetic spirit level with the bracket is a nice touch but better to use a proper spirit level along the top of the TV or at least along the top of the movable plate.
