The Sharpness Blew Me Away!!!
10 of 10 found this helpful Let me just say, I bought the camera as a stills camera and it has surpassed my expectations.
So I hesitated when I saw the G85 was a Micro 4/3 camera with only 16 MP sensor. I thought, how sharp can it be? Well, let me tell you, this camera is VERY SHARP. I've enclosed some photos so you can see. I set the Photo Style to VIVID and i.Resoluton to HIGH so I'm sure that helps.
I have the 12 - 60mm kit lens and I also bought the 45-200mm Vario lens (older model which I got for $200 on Ebay - see bird and rabbit pics as they were both at 200mm).
I switched from a Nikon D5300 DSLR to the Mirrorless G85 a month ago. I liked my Nikon but I got tired of dust in the viewfinder of the DSLR so I decided to make the move to Mirrorless and the EVF (Electronic Viewfinder). I couldn't be more happy. The feature set on the G85 is far superior to the Nikon. You get a touch screen, Time Lapse (done in the camera), easy to navigate menu ( ex. it's easy to switch from Auto ISO to a manual ISO setting which was a pain in the ass on the Nikon), an Economy Mode which really saves on the battery life, and Post Focus just to name a few things. Post Focus is awesome and an unexpected nice feature which I use a lot to get maximum depth of field. Check out reviews on YouTube for the G85 as they can do more justice for a review than I can do here in a few paragraphs.
Egonomically the camera feels great in the hand and I love the heft which Panasonic added as part of the weather sealing of the camera. The IN BODY stabilization is another bonus and I know it is adding to the sharpness of my photos by preventing camera shake at all focal lengths.
If you are looking for a great feeling and feature rich Mirroless camera this is the one.
