Performance decent, but still a disappointing and expensive card
4 of 10 found this helpful I bought this card thinking that it would be a silent and reasonably small card. I say "reasonably" because every single graphics card that comes out today is for some reason a dual slot card, but at least this one isn't as big as many other contemporary cards. Anyway, the size was what I expected, but it's definitely NOT silent. When you turn on your PC it will sound almost like a vacuum cleaner because of this card alone. Now, it does get noticeably quieter when you've used it for a few minutes, and at that point I find it somewhat tolerable, but even then, it's definitely not a silent card.
Also, because this is an Nvidia card we are talking about, don't even think about using HDMI. Nvidia applies mandatory scaling (and it's ugly let me tell you - even my ancient LCD TV's internal scaler does it better) to every resolution that isn't your "native" resolution on HDMI. I say "native" with quotation marks because Nvidia decides what your "native" resolution is, and it may well be inconsistent with your display's actual native resolution. Fortunately, the VGA port on this card works well enough with no noticeable noise on my setup, so sticking to VGA is not a bad option.
About performance, I don't have any other cards from this generation to compare it to, but it seems pretty decent. Still, my next card will probably be an AMD card.
