Best beginners camera: the Nikon D70/D70s
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased the Nikon D70 and D70s for my daughters to start learning photography on trips and outings, to capture the world through their eyes. The menus are simple, there are tons of good lenses available for cheap, and they are tough as nails. At 6.1 megapixels, these cameras aren't going to win any awards for resolution, but for 5x7 prints and for learning simple editing techniques they are king. For around $250, I received bodies, lenses, and picked up straps, bags, and compact flash cards, and can shoot better quality shots than similarly priced point-and-shoot cameras.

Great value for a very multipurpose lense.
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased this lense for my D3400 for a trip to Europe. 55-200mm is great for multiple situation and types of photography, including but not limited to portraits, street, and landscape. This should be the first lense you pick up after getting your D3400. AF is very accurate (90+%) and the shake reduction is excellent.
