Dokken - Hell to Pay (CD, Jul-2004, Sanctuary (USA)

Strong lineup...good tunes...
"Hell to Pay" is a strong set of Dokken tunes. Don Dokken is in excellent voice and sounds inspired. This was current Dokken guitarist Jon Levin's debut LP with the band. Even as he shows a bit too much reverence for the band's original guitar wiz George Lynch, he plays confidently and well. This is a solid 4-star record for Dokken...not as fiery and inspired as "Back for the Attack", but much better than the 90's reunion record "Dysfunctional". Their next record, 2008's "Lightning Strikes Again", is as good as anything in their catalog. "Hell to Pay" is very cool...one in a string of consistently good 21st century recordings by one of rock's great vocalists. If you're fan of Don Dokken, you will find much to enjoy about the record.

Mighty fine EQ pedal designed for electric guitarists
MXR's 6-band EQ pedal is designed for especially electric guitarists...i.e., targeting sweet spots in the EQ that make the guitar shine in the mix: 100hz, 200hz, 400hz, 800hz, 1.6K, 3.2K...great for boosting solos, crafting a new sound or crucially for making fine adjustments to the room that you're playing in (pulling out bad frequencies is just as important as adding ones that are missing)...I've been using an EQ in my rig for 35 years, it's essential. MXR's litte box is military-grade sturdy and has beautiful red lights when it's engaged...great product...
