Drivemaster Tarmac Paint And Driveway Sealer/Sealant. Very pleased with results.
3 of 3 found this helpful Last year I decided to paint a small area of my old Tarmac drive with Drivemaster Tarmac Paint And Driveway Sealer/Sealant, just to see how it would stand up to the weather and wear and tear, with the car being driven over it several times. This year with the small area having survived reasonably well I decided to paint the whole of the drive.
The total area is about 72 square metres, so as a litre is supposed to cover 6sq.m, and thinking it may not give quite that coverage I ordered 2 x 20 litre tins.
As I said my drive is an old drive and was laid over 25 years ago. I first gave it a thorough sweep to remove as much loose dirt and grit as possible and then I gave it a good blast with my hosepipe to remove any remaining debris.
I then filled any cracks, dents and small holes with mortar (if you do not fill these cracks/dents/holes they will show up more after the surface is painted). Next I used a 3 inch paint brush to paint all round the edges in order that I did not get any of the paint on the edging stones and on the walls, after that I completed the rest of the drive with a moderately hard broom. I used a broom as opposed to a roller because of the roughness of the surface of the old drive.
The painting was only completed about 3 weeks ago and so far I am very pleased with the results. Now when I sweep the drive I do not get all the loose grit that I used to, and it looks a lot better, almost like a new drive.
There were however a few points to be aware of. Firstly it took a lot more of the Drivemaster Tarmac Paint And Driveway Sealer/Sealant to complete the job, in fact it ended up taking about four times as much as the coverage indicates on the site. This was probably due to the rough nature of the surface of my old drive.
Secondly, I was advised not to drive on it for a least 24 hours so I waited 48 hours to be safe, which was okay, unless I turned the steering wheel whilst the car was stationary, then I got a rubbing motion between the front wheels and the drive which can rub off the new surface paint beneath those wheels.
Thirdly, I have noticed that surface water after it has rained takes a little longer to soak away.
On the subject of rain it is better if it is dry for at least a day both before and after the
Drivemaster Tarmac Paint And Driveway Sealer/Sealant is applied.

Very pleased with the socket
It was just what was needed to enable me to remove the spark plugs on a Ford 1.0ltr EcoBoost engine.
