Exceptional historical mystery
Bayard frontloads his novel with a bevy of quirky characters. The best is Inspector Vedocq who is cunning, amusing, swashbuckling, cultured and a former galley slave during the French Revolution. Now it's the restoration. The king is back and everyone is trying to forget about Marie Antoinette, Napoleon and their recent history. But what happened to Louis XVI's son and heir, the dauphin? Amidst wonderful dialogue the mystery unfolds and the plot quickly picks up steam until it's moving at breakneck speed. Sword fights, treachery and a poignant story about an ordinary man discovering his noble spirit in treating the dying son of a despot. Aside from the gripping story you pick up a fair amount of French history. Inspector Vedocq could support his own series of novels.

Clearly written text.
Great illustrations and informative tables. The cases provided in this book makes it so much easier to understand and relate intricate neurology to clinical practice.

Indispensible reference.
It provides information about each of the mental illnesses and provides the rule-outs, as well as Decision Trees.
