Edgar Froese - Solo (1974-1983) The Virgin Years (NEW 4CD)

Too Much Edgar.
Edgar Froese's Aqua is a great album to stand alongside his Tangerine Dream albums of this period, and Epsilon In Malaysian Pale is an OK companion. However, the remaining three albums really aren't very good. They are monotonous, and several pieces outstay their welcome. The bonus tracks for the first two albums are interesting but not essential, whilst the packaging is clunky and uninformative (no timings anywhere) and a missed opportunity for a short essay on EF's work at this time and how it fitted in with Tangerine Dream.

An Acquired Taste.
There is some very good material within this album, and some great playing too. However, there are also some tracks that not everyone will appreciate, and the record label should have applied some quality control to quell the over indulgences!
