Solid Interface
2 of 2 found this helpful Upgraded from a scarlett solo and really can't complain. The solo worked kinda weird with windows sometimes, and I had to mess with it a little to get everything right, but with the 404hd, it was just plug and play. Works flawlessly with my windows machine. I was expecting a change in quality because of the price of the 404 compared to the Scarlett stuff, but honestly I like everything about the 404 better. The 404 is very compact and feels sturdy (not to say the Scarlett interfaces aren't). I didn't expect this level of build quality, but am pleasently surprised. I would feel comfortable taking this interface on the road.

The Good Headphones
2 of 2 found this helpful They arrived quickly and exactly as described in basically new condition, only in an opened package. The open back nature of these headphones makes their sound quality incredible; they are very detailed with a massive Soundstage. (Keep in mind I don't have much to compare them to, as I haven't owned audiophile grade headphones before.) In gaming they are great because I can hear footsteps in precise directions and I get a good idea of distance as well. Music is where they are really great though. The definition of the mids, highs, and bass make it sound like live music. I have heard parts of songs I never knew were there after listening to them through worse headphones for years. It is like listening to the songs for the first time again and it feels great. I have also found myself enjoying different types of music more in addition to all of these great things. I mainly listen to a variety of music, which hadn't previously included jazz and classical music, but with these headphones I finally see how great of genres they are.
I have used them for long durations of listening to music and gaming, and they haven't ever gotten hot and/or uncomfortable. I primarily use them with an amp/dac on my pc, but they also work well on my phone. The only problem with this is that I have to crank the volume on my phone, so they don't get nearly as loud, and they are slightly less clear and noisy. (At max volume on my phone they are around the same volume level as some cheap ear buds at half volume.)
The only main drawback to these cans are also the greatest benefit: they are open backed. This is great for the previously mentioned reasons, however this also means that anyone within 4 feet of you can hear what you're listening to and anything audible going on in the background is something you can hear as well as what's going through the headphones. They are also slightly lacking in bass. The bass isn't very strong and overwhelming, but rather quick and punchy, but we'll defined. (I actually prefer this to a strong muddy sound on something like beats headphones, but that is more personal preference.) For only $130, though, this is one of the best purchases I think I've ever made.
