Good with one drawback
The one drawback with this item is that there's no adjustment for the sensitivity of the PIR. The power cut switch-on works fine, and as long as there's enough ambient light then the PIR is suppressed and there's no problem. However, once it's dark, the light comes on at the slightest disturbance - it wouldn't be good to have it in a bedroom. I added a socket at the top of the stairs and in that location it should be fine as it won't matter if it occasionally switches itself on.
The item itself seems quite well made, and the light gives enough light to move around safely during a power cut. It stays on for long enough to get to it and remove it from the charging station. The torch gives a good beam of light, and it easily removes from the charger - it's a contactless charging system. The charger does stay warm - not dangerously so - suggesting some waste of energy.
Overall, this does the job we wanted of providing an emergency light for guests.

Reliable quality
Personally, I prefer the Schraeder valves to Presta or others as I find them more convenient to check and inflate with 'car' gauge or footpump. Continental should be an asurance of quality, even if slightly more expensive. Always good to have a spare on hand!

MoT emissions problem?
Our car failed its MoT on emissions, having always been pretty clean on previous MoTs. I came across this Wynn's additive while doing some research.
It wasn't at all clear what was causing the emissions problem, and I was faced with spending £162 at a Peugeot agent on a diagnostics check, which might not identify the cause of the problem anyway. I changed the plugs, coil pack, oil and air filters and oil. This all cost less than the diagnostics would have.
Put a bottle of the Wynn's in and gave the car a good run as instructed on the bottle before returning to the garage for an emissions test - sailed through! OK, we don't know whether the new plugs etc would have done the job alone, but for £12 the Wynn's seemed a good precaution.
