Witchery by Juliet Diaz New Paperback Book

Witchery almost witchcraft
It’s a good book and has good advice for individuals seeking something. It falls into the category of what I call “self-help witchcraft” build your confidence banish negativity kind of stuff. With all the modern buzz words and phrases like “be your authentic self” and “live your best life”. With that said the rituals and spell work that’s in the book is good useful and practical especially for people beginning their journey into witchcraft and mystic spirituality. My favourite is the part about ancestors and veneration not many witchcraft books teach this in any detail so this is good. I heavily annotated my copy with thoughts and counter view points on some topics and I do feel that this is one of those witchcraft books that perpetuates a false positivity in the need to constantly reject negativity, negative energy or dark aspects of ourselves our lives and our craft this to me seems like an imbalance rather than a harmony or equilibrium of energy and mysteries. All in all, it’s a good book I like it and it will be a valuable resource for reference in my craft practices and I like it’s Catholic/Christian friendly stance too many books like this are anti- Christianity and it’s getting boring considering the wider Occult and hermetic mysteries have been shaped by Christianity in many ways. Witchery is a good book and very practical and easy follow. There’s a good message here in spite of some overly positive aspects. I recommend this book.
ESV-CE Catholic Bible, Anglicized - 9780281085262

In the twenty first century
This edition of the ESV Bible is a new catholic edition that will become the official translation of the Catholic Church Mass lectionary in 2023. It’s a good translation and intended to be more literal in translation from the original language. Apart from the cover design, which is growing on me, my only criticism is that it has deliberately used the now recognised mistranslation of homosexual for the Greek words malkoi and arsenokoitai. With current research on the use of this word in English bibles and the damage it has done the use of it in this printing and translation is deliberate and potentially reflective of the bias and prejudice of both the translators and the Catholic Church that commissioned it. It also becomes more evident of deliberate prejudice when you consider that the previous translation of the English Mass lectionary was the Jerusalem Bible which doesn’t render the translation of the Greek as homosexual. It’s shameful and high lights the problem that you can not always trust what you read in the Bible has been translated accurately, as much as the preface would inform the reader on the translation process. This Bible is however a good translation for my collection and one which would be good for comparison with other translations.
