John O'Donohue has given the world many gifts. His latest, and last book, is a tender mercy for humanity. This book is a collection of his kindest thoughts, his deepest compassion expressed eloquently and words and phrases that stir the soul to splendid heights. It is magnificent. He has a prayer and a blessing for almost every situation and person in life. His loving heart oozes from each page with empathy and appreciation for every walk of life and predicament. He blesses life, death, incarceration, substance abuse, life, love and the day itself. He explains the importance of blessing and blessings and encourages a way of life that is attuned to the full symphony of human joy and suffering. I keep this book beside me always as I never know when I need to bless someone or something, John has poetically composed words to transport us from our mere daily grind into a state of grace.
