Two thousand pounds of education Drops to a ten-rupee jezail
A comprehensive and well illustrated account, from the British (officers) perspective. It could have been rounded out to include both 'sides' POV, but I suspect there's a lack of documented sources.

So there are interesting bit, snippets, almost in this book, but there's just so much art critic/appreciation rhetoric. You know the dense, impenetrable nonsense that's written about Art, especially modern art.
