Size matters!
1 of 1 found this helpful It almost feels like cheating. To enjoy a proper Trace Elliot sound I feel I should be lugging around a big cab and a big head.
Obviously the Elf doesn’t have the headroom of something with twice the power, but if the venue is much bigger than the Elf can handle, they probably have a PA to plug into. I’ve not had to DI it yet, but apparently they work well, although the only DI option is post EQ.
There are many online reviews and they’re almost all overwhelmingly positive. I chose to partner the Elf head with the 1 x 10 cab, but expect I’ll end up adding the 2 x 8 eventually for a little extra ooomph and definition.
I’m very pleased with the sound. But best of all it’s just so light and small - if someone had told me years ago I’d be able to get a bass amp and cab in the boot, and a P Bass on the front seat.... of a Mazda MX5.... I’d have wondered what they were smoking 😁 Super piece of kit!

Surprising little stand!
When I unpacked the stand my first thought was how small it was, and that it may just do for my guitars, but wouldn’t hack it for a bass... amazingly it holds a bass just fine and as the stand ‘moves’ with the bass it’s pretty solid and confidence inspiring!
It IS quite expensive for what it is, but it’s a good piece of kit if you want a small portable stand.

Excellent but had a small problem...
This is the second one of these I’ve bought, as I was so impressed by the first. Unfortunately the tolerances were machined so tight on this that the shaft/seat post wouldn’t insert into the bracket on the seat. It would go in a couple of millimetres, but the seat could not rotate and the two pieces were very difficult to separate again.
I ended up swapping parts between this drum throne and my other, so both now work but neither as well as my original! I expect they will ‘wear in’ and be excellent after a while.
For comfort and stability they are truly hard to beat. I would buy another, but I’d send it back if it had the same problem. I suspect it was just that batch.
