Restored glasses with damaged coatings
Bought this to remove the coatings on a pair of glasses with plastic lenses where the coating had started to degrade badly and after some experimentation found how to do it (continuous agitation with a toothbrush for about 10 minutes then wash off whilst still agitating) and coatings remove and glasses usable again. Brilliant.

Mercedes parts cheaper and better than Jeep/Ssangyong where shared power train
It is what it is, genuine Mercedes from Mercedes garage. Cheaper and better than the same from Jeep (it was for a Grand Cherokee 2.7CRD) and I always buy parts for Ssangyong and Chrysler with Mercedes engines from Mercedes.

Excellent and massively versatile RS485 camera controller with only a couple of minor limitations
Versatile PTZ controller supporting many popular protocols including PELCO D and P but notably NOT Panasonic or Bosch. Will only control HIKVision DVR and VMS but offers Matrix Protocols, Creator, Extron, ZT-1.0, and ZT-2.0.
Unusually and very usefully the RS485 configuration including the baud rate etc. can be set at camera level rather than at unit level. The instructions are somewhat opaque in places and one minor gotcha comes with HIKVision's reversal of the standard assignations for 'A' and 'B'.
HIKVision offer an almost complete lack of support for their products even if you have bought through an authorised dealer and pre-sales support is laughable, their support people don't even know what's printed in the manual let alone anything beyond it. I bought the unit to find out what it would do as they could not even tell me what protocols it supported and it's like a state secret finding out proper essential information, "Buy it and you'll find out, we're not telling" seems to be their motto.
All in all though, despite the lack of a couple of popular but not widely used protocols it's a really nice unit to use, with all you need for RS485 control, especially the 8 axis speed interpretive and zoom controlling (twist) joystick.
