It is just a "cold" shoe.
This is a direct quote from Nikon USA's own website:
"The AS-N1000 Multi Accessory Port Adapter is a hot shoe adapter that lets you connect a wide range of accessories to the Nikon 1 V1, V2 and V3 digital cameras".
Fortunately, I had seen pictures of it and saw no electrical contacts, so I was not misled by Nikon's error. But I'll bet many have been.
Nikon could easily have made it a hot shoe, which would be so much more useful What "wide range of accessories" do thy mean? You cannot put a flash on it because the V series have no sync terminal. I can think of at least two accessories that would work on it: microphone and bubble level.
Well made, but limited usefulness.

Good tabletop tripod for smaller cameras.
I bought this for my Nikon 1 cameras. Despite the modest price, it is actually very well made.

Perfect complement to my new HP x360 15t Convertible. Functional and attractive.
1 of 1 found this helpful I chose this case for it's slim design and the combination of black Nylon and brown leather trim. I like that look. All-leather cases are expensive (good ones), and all-Nylon are too blah. Also, since it is a Samsonite product, I expected the quality to be high. I was not disappointed. Perfect complement to my new HP x360 15t Convertible, which is a very slim laptop/tablet PC. I like that the main compartment has a separate slot for the computer, plus space for mouse, external DVD drive, and the power "brick" (also slim). One outside compartment has slots for calculator, pen, business cards, and some papers. The other outside pocket is for general use.
