  I bought a Superior Electric Model 116 variac, working as had been demonstrated in the photos. It well packed in a box stuffed with large chunks of Styrofoam. Shipping was free and arrived in only a few days. The seller voluntarily messaged me through Ebay to update me on shipping status. The only fault was that the device had a clearly labeled fuse port containing a burnt-out fuse jumped by aluminum foil. Replacement was only $5 from Home Depot, but I might not have checked and started to use.
