Excellent image quality
2 of 2 found this helpful Bought this item for landscape photography as I was attracted by the full frame high resolution sensor and for this purpose the camera is excellent giving extremely sharp images. As a bonus, the camera works well with other manufacturers lens via a suitable adapter - this has allowed me to bring my old leica R fit lenses out of retirement. On the flip side, it should be noted that this camera unlike the later mk2 version has no in body image stabilisation system so unless using sony lenses with built in stabilisation, you will have no form of stabilisation when taking hand held shots. Due to the high resolution sensor the old rule of thumb that minimum shutter speed = focal length of lens is no longer appropriate - min shutter speed of double the focal length is nearer the mark. Also this may not be the best camera for photographing fast moving subjects as by all accounts the focus tracking is not quite up to the standards set by the latest cameras. However for static subjects like landscapes and architecture this camera is an excellent buy.

Excellent rangefinder style camera
2 of 2 found this helpful Very nice rangefinder style camera with Fuji's unique hybrid direct optical/evf finder. This camera uses the same processing engine as the same company's XT-2 camera and produces identical results ( the camera now has the ability to take 4k movie clips when the firmware is updated to the latest version). The direct optical viewfinder image is good, but is best used with fairly short focal length prime lenses - with zooms or telephoto primes you are back to the old issue of the lens intruding into part of the viewfinder area. This is not necessarily a major problem as the evf is very good and switching between optical and evf is just a matter of flipping a switch on the front of the camera.

Well built good performance
2 of 3 found this helpful Decided to go for this lens in spite of reading bad reviews concerning out of focus edges and vignetting and am now very glad I did. I usually shoot at around f5.6-f8 and at these apertures the images are very sharp edge to edge. There is also no sign of vignetting although as I usually shoot jpeg files I would expect that the camera is applying automatic corrections ( as nearly all cameras do these days). I have previously used a Canon 24-105mm f4 lens and would rate the Sony as being at least as good (although I so miss the extra length at the telephoto end). All in all I would recommend this lens.
