MASTECH MS8040 Digital Auto Ranging Multimeter Desktop AC DC True RMS Bench DMM

Good bench meter for my home lab
I was looking for a bench meter for my electronics lab and this one does everything I need and didn't break the bank! I have used it to match Transistors for synth work and it easily allows me to find matches at 1.5mV or less. I compared the voltage and resistance functions to a Fluke field meter and a BK Precision 50,000 count meter and everything seems to be accurate. A really great meter for the price. Why I didn't give it 5 stars: I'd like to see the display light stay on until I turn it off - not time out and I don't like that the meter will turn itself off after a number of minutes of inactivity. It's plugged into AC so I don't see the point. If it were battery only I would understand but it's the only piece of test equipment that I own that shuts down by itself. Annoying.
Cry Baby Model GCB-95 Wah Pedal Dunlop

    Classic 1970's sound
Yes, I recommend it - if you're looking for that classic '70s wah-wah, this is it. Yes, it was a good value - I got exactly what was described which means I needed to do a little work on it to restore it to like new condition. I think it cost a total of around $6 for the new parts. Yes, it's enjoyable - if you're looking for that classic '70s wah effect which I was. I've been playing guitar for over 45 years and in my mind if you're looking for a wah-wah pedal, the Cry Baby GCB-95 is still the gold standard. There are some players that complain about "tone sucking" from pedals like this because they don't use 3PDT switches (necessary for what's known as "true bypass") for switching the effect off. I had every intention of modifying this pedal when I got it to make it true bypass. I even bought the switch before it arrived! (a whole $4 more) I was very surprised and happy with the sound of the pedal in my chain and I don't notice any ill effects to the sound from my other pedals so I'm leaving it alone. FYI - I like my compressor first in the chain then the Cry Baby and everything else after that. All in all, I think most players will be happy with the "classic" sound of the Cry Baby and if not it's one of the easiest pedals to modify and cost very little to do so. You can also change out the inductor for about $20 if you feel like experimenting a little. I thought it was pretty cool back in the 70s and I still think the same now.

David Gilmour uses these on his black strat.
Need I say more? OK, just a little more. It's a CTS pot. It doesn't get any better.
