Stylish and fun- though dull in parts
Going through lists of essential Wii games, I came across this neglected gem from a few years back. Taking elements from the PS2-era Grand Theft Auto games, and mixing them with retro sound effects, graphics and some very otaku habits this is a very enjoyable game.
As Travis Touchdown- the games protagonist- you find yourself inadvertantly on the list of Americas top assassins- realising you can make money doing that you set out to off the top 10 so you don't have to work in the video store any more. The catch is that each time you wish to go up a rank it costs you money which you have to earn. The ways of earning money are very clever- unlike a GTA character Travis has to earn his money through mundane tasks such as mowing lawns, or collecting coconuts that he must knock out of trees- there are a few assassination missions too but mowing lawns nets you more money.
The only thing that lets this game down is the open world in which it is set- as it is pretty empty, and there is very little to see or do. Though there are hidden items to collect there is little incentive for exploration.
The control scheme is deceptively simplistic and only requires motion during finishing moves (though at some points you get a lot of those in quick succession).
If you like very funny cut scenes, enormous 24 on-one sword fights and ridiculously stylish characters No More Heroes has all of that. An excellent game that I will be playing for quite some time

Charming, not for everyone
The Harvest Moon franchise has died down a bit recently- since farmville stole its thunder. The Rune Factory spin-off titles take the same idea and run with it straight into a Zelda game- and the results are as soothing or as action packed as you like.
Playing as the whatever you name him male protagonist, you pitch up in a new town and are given a farm to tend. During the course of the game you meet new people, date any of the 12 girls in the village, cook, forge, fish, run your farm and go dungeon crawling and battling monsters in order to save the village.
The great thing about this game is that if you want to take it easy for a bit you can play without going near a fight- the whole thing is at your own pace. You don't even need to tend your farm, as foraging and fishing can earn you a decent amount of money for weapons. The game is enormous, and there are endless things to do- you can take whatever aspects of it you like and focus on that.
The only thing I dislike about Rune Factory Frontier is the loading times- going through the village gives you quite a few areas where the game loads. It is understandable as many of the characters are doing specific things at specific times but Twilight Princess manages it better. Load times are much less frequent in dungeons however.
All in all it is a lovely game, and pretty unclassifiable (being a slash-em-up dungeon crawling fishing-dating-farming sim amongst others). Well worth getting as you can play it how you like- and as you can only save outside of dungeons you can leave the game and come back knowing you won't be thrust into the heart of the action

Perfect (if you like that sort of thing)
I will start by saying that I know these games won't be everybody's cup of tea. Rhythm games are a hard sell at the best of times, and this is a fan service rhythm game with a steep learning curve.
That said, once you get into the swing of it I find it more fun than, say, Hatsune Miku. The Persona 3 and 5 games don't really have a story as such (Persona 4 dancing all night has a 7 to 8 hour story mode, and is included here as a download code,) but have ways of interacting with the characters from those games and learning more about them.
They are fun, challenging games, and if you're a fan of persona they are well worth learning the mechanics of. If you aren't, maybe look elsewhere.
