Fantastic alll mode ham transceiver!

Although I'm now the third "owner" of this transceiver, it was very gently used (as in no more than two or three times. It is in perfect condition, as though it just came out of the box new!

I've had a full week to put this radio through it's paces, and it is a terrific performer for such a small form factor. A full 100 watts and it covers all modes, AM, FM, SSB, RTTY, CW. It should do a great job in my little Toyota Camry.Read full review...

FT-857D Nice!

This is a great radio. Bought this as my second rig for the RV and works great and takes little room (that makes the XYL really happy!!). Using an ATAS and Outreach 500 with Alpha delta ground plane. A little learning curve with the menu system but once I was dialed in to my operating style you really don't play with them all that much. CW, SSB, DIG and Repeaters. Yaesu's FT-857D is a GREAT radio

The best radio of it's size and weight out there for all popular HF bands and VHF/UHF (2m and 70cm), and all modes. It can be used as a mobile radio, or portable and even a base station. One of the best radios in my opinion. Sad that Yaesu discontinued them. I'd love to see them come out with a new model with all the capabilities and more in a modern radio, with the same size or maybe even a little smaller. Great Rig

Just got this rig. I have a FT1000MP as my primary station transceiver and really like it lay out and easy of operation. Now I have this FT857D mobile rig. First time to own a HF mobile radio and for that matter one with VHF and UHF all mode capability. So far I like the operation of it very well. For a compact rig they have put a lot into it. This is my third FT897D and I couldn't be happier. I sold one years ago and I gave the other to my son. The rig is hard to beat. very durable.
