Bought a few of these now and fitted them. Really easy to fit.

Not only are they stylish but, they work efficiently and silently. Aesthetically they look great and compliment the room rather than look like a necessity. The setting are easy to change but, factory set is good to use.

However, be aware that this fan must be allowed to acclimatise before functioning correctly for your unique room. There are also two speed settings. Instruction are in the box and free online.

Can be easily fitted by anyone competent. Be aware if you are changing for a standard fan you will need an electrician to fit different wiring to accommodate this type of fan that switches itself on and off according to humidity.

Shop around as prices vary greatly. Brilliant bargains to be had on eBay buying these and the price will please you. This item is very high quality.

Terrible

I threw it in the bin. Fan would not stop running at full speed. I'm guessing the thermostatic sensor was faulty. Also one clip on cover was broken. Could not return as threw box away when fitting so lost my money for nothing as bought a replacement fan.Read full review

Perfect for small bathrooms

My relatively small bathroom was humid after a bath for a long time. The towels didn't dry properly.
This extractor meassures the humidity at all times and comes on automatically when the humidity is high.

Neat, quiet, versatile and effective!

I originally bought three Xpelair C4 fans: pullcord, timer and humidistat/timer ones.
This review is for the C4HTR version.

The installation of the product is really simple; we have round metallic air ducts, so the fan can be just pushed in the duct and tightened with the quick fit clamps. The electrical wiring was not done by myself, but connecting the fan seems easy as long as you remember to connect the wires so that the fan can be operated with the light switch.

I put the humidistat/timer to the bathroom, obviously. I use it on the low speed, on which it is really quiet (most sound comes from air flow rather than the fan itself). The airflow is sufficient for our small bathroom in my opinion, but the high speed could be used if needed. On high speed there is more noise present, but still not unbearable. The humidistat has a minimum humidity setting of 50% RH, which in our bathroom does not trigger the fan even after running the shower for a while (in the summer, could be different in the winter). But exhaling moist air to the humidistat did start the fan, so it does work. I use the humidistat at minimum and over-run timer at maximum (the over-run timer should be min. 30 mins to allow bathroom to dry) to minimize the risk of moisture building up in our bathroom. Overall our bathroom air is more fresh because the fan blows most of the moist air outside.

On high speed the fan obviously pushes out more air, but it works much better without the cover. The noise is lower and because the air resistance is smaller, more air is pushed to the duct if the cover is not intact. Although the aesthetics do suffer from removing the cover and water could in theory be splashed to the fan electronics without the cover...

I can't say about the longevity of the product, but so far (couple of weeks) it is working nicely and quietly on the ceiling. No real cons I can think of, not at least at this price point. The two different speeds is a huge plus!Read full review
