A Good, Functional *BIG* Hard Drive

Took it out of the box. Hooked up the cables. Did a format to my preferred file system (ext4, as I use Linux). It works! No problems found the time since installation.

Western Digital's consistently excellent external drives

My recent purchase of the 8 tb WD external drive was my fourth purchase from that fine company. I now own two 2 tb, 1 4tb and the aforementioned 8 tb model. Alk function as they are supposed to with no data corruption or other problems.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase from this company.

WD 8 TB USB 3.0 External Back-Up Drive - Excellent, Reliable, Value!

The WD 8 TB is superb for several reasons less than 9 square inch footprint! Literally "plug and play" simple. This unit provided Western Digital RELIABLE, secure, simple back-up of a large volume of data with plenty to spare on it 8TB capacity drive. I own my pharmaceutical & product protection-security consulting business and I'm on my own. My income and support for my clients relies on ensuring I can easily file, retrieve and secure critical data whether its from yesterday or a few years ago! This WD does that with software included in the package which is comprehensive and sophisticated where needed, even Cloud. For less than $200 at a Big Box the WD is excellent value! Read full review

What an excellent storage per price!

I purchased in Jan 2019, and mine was white labelled one(WD80EMAZ)

If you are to add this to desktop, then it's quite bad for RPM(5400), but it's enough for NAS.

Just check bad sector before disassemble. It's because if you disassemble it, then you have no guarantee for repair. I got a good one with no bad sector.Read full review

Contained white WD80EMAZ drives shucked for NAS server.

Shucked for whites to use in NAS. These were WD80EMAZ inside which is perfect cause the last pair I got were the same. They are the more desired whites because of the 256MB cache. No 3.3v power issues but that usually depends on your system/'psu.Read full review

Having 8TB is great.

I've only been using the HD for the past couple of days. Following a quick delivery it seems to be performing as advertised, definitely plug & play using an HP laptop running Windows 10.

Nice Drive!

Unit came formatted and ready to use, truly 'plugn' play', as it should be. Runs quietly, and seems very fast for such a large storage volume. Also comes with software tools from WD to aid in various installations and storage situations. Overall, a nice price on a nice drive!Read full review
