Not the lightest but it sure does suck !!!

We bought this to replace a cordless one that we wee never really happy with .. BTW, the battery for the Dyson cordless was extortionate !!
Currys had a few models but this one was out of stock. We bought from Direct Vacuums on eBay .. faultless service ! Delivery was pretty quick.
Vax itself is quite heavy but it does split (kinda like Thunderbirds ") so you can carry it round. The suction is fantastic and actually pulled some carpet up. Accessories supplied are OK but for another £20 you can but the "Pro" set direct from Vax. Replacing/washing filters id easy enough but can be a bit tricky for arthritic fingers.
The "hard floor" setting could throw up some bigger bits of dirt as it just opens a small window on the front.

A cheap alternative to a Shark?

Love the suction, my carpets do look better. Also pleased the attachments (not the pet one) actually clip onto the vacuum quite firmly so shouldn't get lost. The cable is very long which some people might find useful, I personally find it too long. The machine is a little heavier than I'd like but it's brilliant that the cylinder lifts off and contrary to a report I read it DOES stand up on the floor. I'm pleased it does hard floors as well as carpets but it's a shame you have to alter the airflow switch as opposed to the machine doing it automatically. To make it even better a retractable cable would be amazing but I do like the quick release knobs. I don't have any animals but should think the cylinder will fill up quite quickly if you have but then it's quick and easy to empty it.
To summarise I'm very pleased with my purchase, particularly at the price.Read full review

did not pick up cat litter and small cat biscuits, would not pick up on wood flooring on either brush mode, brush mode very hard to move anyone expecting a lightweight machine with easy movement this is very worst you could think of buying. Very surprised

I firstly brought this because it came apart for cleaning the stairs as I have a bad back. I have been utterly impressed in every job it copes with my German shepherd's hair. Stairs are so easy without the upright part. Its not clogging really strong suction. Even the kids toys don't seem to be able to kill it.

Compared to my cordfree Dyson its a better result especially on a textured carpet. Its very mobile and a strong suction. Emptying it is simple enough. The unit amazingly comes apart to be a more mobile cylinder. Thats great for stairs. It is heavy to carry when using it to dust at ceiling height. Really versitile, lift off body makes stairs and high places easily reachable. Like that the beater brush can be turned on or off. Great suction, easy to empty and nice and light. I vacuum the back of our rugs and when I turned the rug over the amount of fine dust
on the floor was infinite and easy to vacuum up.
Then I vacuumed the top of the rug.

Really Impressed

I have 4 dogs so I need a good, powerful hoover. I was amazed at the suction this vacuum has my carpet lifted when I ran over it. I took half the time vacuuming my living room as I didn't have to keep going back over the same spot a half dozen times.
