Great machine
My third Vax multifunction machine. Last one lasted 10 years before it died. Use it every day to vacuum pet hairs (turbo brush a must) and wash the carpet regularly. Sucks up water well. Carpet dries quickly. New machine has longer cord and hose which helps with only down side which is it's quite heavy to lug around.Read full review

I bought this to replace a Vax Powa 4000 that had served well for 15 years but had fallen down the stairs a few times shattering the top casing. This new 6131 Multivac is just as efficient, but I was very disappointed to find that the motor only runs at one fast (and very noisy) speed. My previous Vax had a variable speed motor which was invaluable when vacuuming delicate items. I have only ever used this and my previous Vax for dry vacuuming and never used the carpet washing and vacuuming feature so cannot comment on that feature.Read full review

Excellent product spoilt for the sake of 5 feet of polythene tube
This Vax 3in1 is an excellent product. I purchased it to clean my carpets. It was easy to use and did an excellent job. It is however important to ensure a good quality extraction fluid is used.
My only complaint is that the tube to connect the cleaner to the tool was too short when used with the large cleaning head and the rigid extension tubes - it was exactly the right length for the small tool when used without the rigid extensions on upholstery or in the car. It was a pity as a Fluid tube approximately 5 feet longer would have made the cleaner much easier to use. I intent to purchase a longer tube to use with the product which will make it much easier to use.Read full review

Great to have my own machine at last and not have to rent the heavy one out from Morrisons! my lounge now smells fresh and have had good go at stains upstairs, this is light and easy to use though a set of instructions would have been useful hence the 4 stars. The attachment for stairs and upholstery doesn't seem to make things very wet to clean but probably doing something wrong/need to try it slower as small attachment and bound to take more time...overall really pleased to be able to clean my carpets and at a great price!Read full review

just one :- BRILLIANT!!
it is a pity this is no longer made as we bought this specifically for the wet use as the small nozzle is perfect for cleaning up accidents from our three cats - and other problems, as I did lose a WHOLE bottle of wine (red), which fell off the footstool (cork still in), which then hit the edge of the hearth, and the whole bottle christened a new, very pale green wool carpet. A little patience and now there is no sign of it. That is the beauty of this type of washer as the cleaning is spot focused - we do not want to clean a whole carpet for a small patch.
Maybe one of these days Vax will reconsider, but buying this proves one of the many joys of ebay!!

Good looking thing!
I have not tried it yet but it looks absolutely brand new! It seems to be well made and robust. And has so many tools with it the box is not big enough, so they have to pack the machine with them! So over all I have no worries about performance, I am just astonished this is a referb, infact I do not believe it!!! I just wish I had chance to run it up before posting this! All I am saying is this, just looking at it I would say 300 quids worth, but they are just over half that new! But this looks like a great deal and I am very happy with it, and any company that puts that much effort in, you just know it is going to be right, O and I have talked to them by email and they are prompt and help full!!!Read full review

Very good value
I bought this VAX as a replacement for my ancient VAX model 121 which had seen sterling service. The reason I bought this particular VAX is that it was much more economical to buy this factory reconditioned one rather than install a new motor on my old VAX, it being only about fifteen pounds more expensive and comes with a good guarantee. It arrived in good time and was in the original VAX packaging albeit not pristine. The same could not be said of the machine which looks brand new and unused. All the accessories look brand new as well. I have only used this machine once to date but as expected it did what it is meant to do. These machines are so versatile and powerful useful for picking up small rubble AND liquids. (not at the same time!)Read full review

A few niggles but a powerful machine
The latest model includes more tools than previously and the motor seems to have been beefed up. In shampooer mode, the redesign has removed the conventional trigger for the water solution and replaced it with a foot operated valve for the carpet head and a sliding collar on the upholstery head. These are more fiddly to operate than the old trigger as they don't give instant on/off, meaning you can easily over-wet your carpet or sofa, and the foot valve may be unsafe for anyone who is unsteady on their feet, but they do the job adequately. The suction is almost too powerful - you can easily lift a rug or mat - but there is an air vent on the wand to reduce suction. My other gripe is there are sharp edges on quite a few of the plastic mouldings which I do not recall on the old model, so handle some parts with caution.
Putting the gripes aside, however, this is a versatile machine that vacuums and shampoos well. Remove the sharp edges and bring back the trigger and it would get a five.Read full review

Machine itself is great. The washer hose and clips were missing but after I had contacted them they were promptly in the post. The on/off switch would only switch on and had to be switched at the plug. Main wire rubber was not fitted in place. Electrician soon rectified switch and plug.
