Great Unit When You Can Find One in Good Condition
Unfortunately you cannot purchase this new, unless it's very high priced. Used units are available, and, of course, found in varying conditions. I purchased a used unit to back-up my original unit with remote, since my unit has been used extremely hard. However, it has been, and continues to be, a workhorse for over 6 years. Reliability is the primary reason for my good rating, but, once you have it set up properly, it's easy to operate. If you do not have an owner's manual, there is one found easily available online by Googling the manufacturer and model number. The manual is extremely useful to have. Without one, it can be an effort in frustration to set the unit up properly. I have not had problems playing any dvds recorded from this unit on other dvd players.Read full review

once reliable unit shows its age
This is a used product rated as in good condition but it is truly somewhere between acceptable and fair. There is much grinding and spinning...already seems like it is on its way out. Glad I bought the 2-year warranty protectionRead full review

Fantastic Machine!
The exact Recorder that I purchased seven years ago finally hit the bucket! I was happy to find a used replacement in great shape for a reasonable price. It is very easy to use and I hooked it up in less than five minutes with no issues. I realize most people don't archive shows or personal recordings anymore due to so many things now available on the internet. I still prefer to have my own copies and this machine does the job well. It doesn't have the features of a more expensive machine but it is easy enough for me to use and I am very happy with it. I am very grateful to have a replacement.Read full review

TOSHIBA DR430KUN DVD VIDEO RECORDER
While the one I bought on e-bay is exactly the same brand and model it works slightly differently than the one I had been using for so many years. It took me a little while to figure out why the recordings were poor at first. The recording speed defaults to SLP mode where as my old one stayed on the recording speed once you set it. The one I bought returns to the SLP speed after each recording so you have to reenter the speed each time you want to make a recording. It’s now working perfectly with excellent recording quality. Great recorder!Read full review

Easy to use recordable DVD player.
I needed a recordable DVD player to transfer my family VHS tapes and this Toshiba fit my needs perfectly. I used to own a Toshiba and this one was just as simple to use. All the editing and chapter features that I needed. Product and remote were super clean.Read full review

Great DV-R
I have one of these already but wanted a back-up in case mine breaks. I love this DVD Burner. Do NOT use DV+R on it though, only DV-Rs or it will malfunction!
Works great, easy to use.

One of the best on the market today
I have owned many dvd recorders over the past 20 years and by far this unit is one of the best with regard to features, build, and ease of use. The recorded image although not HD when displayed on an HD tv looks almost as good as the original HD broadcast. My only issue with this unit is that the user must finalize the recorded disk manually at the completion of the recording to make it compatible with other dvd players.Read full review

Toshiba DR430KU DVD RECORDER
Simple to use, it will record from tv through the line input, works great, i couldn't be happier with my purchase, the recorder uses both formats of recordable blank media DVD-R/RW DVD+R/RW.

Mostly Good
This seems to be well made in nearly all respects. However there is a large space between the two hour and the four hour recording times. A lot of movies are longer than two hours, which means that if you use the four hour setting you get poor video reproduction, but if you use the two hour setting you have to use two discs. It's a shame that there isn't a 2 1/2 hour setting to address this problem.Read full review
