Product very good But.......

I found the sat nav itself user friendly and easy to navigate ( excuse the pun).
It seems as so often is the case an excellent piece of kit is let down by the lack of attention to detail of the final product package.
I found it extremely difficult to fit to the unit to the windscreen as the distance between the sat nav and the suction pad that sticks to the windscreen
needs to be at least an inch longer, so the user can get their fingers behind the unit as to attach it to the windscreen
In short a brave effort but must try harder 6 out of 10.

Tom Tom better than other known sat java

Found the Tom Tom to be much more user friendly than the other well known brand of day nav. Also clearer on instructions when to take turns with street map names more clearly shown.

Good value for a pre-used item

As a retired aircraft maintenance engineer I felt that the product was not as intuitive and user-friendly as it should be - a lot could be learned from mobile phones.
1/ I had to refer to the manual on several occasions to carry out some basic functions;
2/ Certain streets (in Dublin) do not have their correct names loaded e.g. 'Great Charles St North' appears as 'Charles Street Great';
3/ If I wanted to make a correction to a street name I did not seem to be able to bring the cursor back to the letter to be corrected;
4/ The screen requires a hard press to accept a letter when typing and seems to be very slow - a quick double press for a double letter often resulted in just one letter being added.
5/ I've had one error in navigation; waiting at a junction I was not told to turn left until after I had actually turned left (luckily, I knew the route and was just testing the system).
6/ Maps should be lifetime maps on all the TomTom products.

Responsive, takes a beating like a champ

Used to have this model back in Australia which would get left in the car in full sun which would have an internal temp of ~60C+ - the screen would be half black when it turned on, as soon as you stick it in front of the A/C for a min or two it'd be right as rain every time. Had it for 4 years like that and never died on me - still functioned as quick as the day I bought it right up til I gave it away.

tl;dr These things take an absolute flogging and never fail. Worth getting one with lifetime maps because the cost for new/updated maps is ridiculous and greedy. Read full review

Straightforward instructions

Bought because this model is far superior to the one built in to my Jag, which at times will say things like "Turn left soon". TomTom is much more specific with "After 300 yards ......" which makes for safer driving.
This model, with lifetime on line updates, is cheaper to buy than an updated Jag cd.Read full review
