Actually works - tried and tested in a real house not just some laboratory test!
Used this a good few years ago... bit sceptical at the time. However the results were clear and the damp we used to get just went away.It was a large outside wall and always got condensation... not helped by a book case and some drawers etc infront. Forget fancy claims..i like to see it for myself!
So we have now moved and had a similar albeit less eriosu issue ina couple of rooms. Condesation in the corners of the outside walls. Tried extra ventilation... still an issue. So dried out the area, painted with this stuff and bingo. few weeks on and not damp once. It is no miracle cure for every situation ( wont cure damp coming through the walls or excessivel;y damp atmosphere due to lack of proper ventilation, but it will stop alot of common issues.
Best bit it you can add it to any colour paint, great as the few other makes out there are ready mixed and tend to come in er... White. Just white. Pricey too.
So well worth a try if you are finding areas in rooms where the walls are getting damp. do the whole wall, not just a spot here and there. Make sure you do 2 coats!Read full review...

Thermalmix
This does very slightly change the colour of the paint and takes forever to mix in the paint, this needs to be done with a drill and a plasters whisk, as a paint whisk wont be man enough. Does need to be mixed in a bigger container and I would add paint and mix gradually instead of in one. Finish is grainy but after a couple of coats looks ok. Mix it well or you end up having to flatten out grey spots where the mix hasn't blended with the paint properly. As for insulating properties the weather's picked up so can't tell.Read full review...

a good solution
my house has rough painted granite walls and no insulation - the cold walls ran with water last winter - 3 coats of paint with this in the mix and the walls are not freezing to the touch, they are not wet with condensation - the finish is a bit chalky and you have to be careful trying to put the suggested "finishing coat" of plain paint over the top of this - I would not try it unless you are desparate and make sure the is the exact same paint, just without thermalmix - I found my top layer of paint over the thermalmix layers all peeled off in the room I tried it - a dreadful mess - but the ones painted with no top coat are fantastic - I've just ordered more to fix some remaining wallsRead full review...

Hallway noticeable warmer after repainting with this additive
Bought this product in the hope that it would help improve the insulation in our hallway during the winter. (I live in a second floor flat, and the hallway has always been very cold, and has always quickly sucked the warmth out of other rooms). I managed to get the painting completed a day or two before a harsh frost. Despite temperatures out dipping below freezing during the night, and despite the central heating not being on, in the morning the hallway was noticeable warmer then it normally would have been. Since then the hallway has been quicker to warm up when the central heating is on, and has stayed warm for longer after it has been turned off, meaning that I've not had to leave it on for as long as I previously would have, and on some days, have not needed to use it all. Nasa Technology as paint additive..
Product arrived quickly... price was reasonable as this bottle of thermalmix can make 5 litres of product for to cover say 50 m2.
Mixed with electric drill & attachment quite easily for 5-10 minutes.
Applied by roller & brush in 2 coats of insulation.... the end result at this point was a little gritty but not a horrible finish.
Then applied 2 x coats of straight matt emulsion to 'smooth' out majority of imperfections....
I'd give the final result 8/10 for quality of finish which is reasonable as was done to pre-war house with period features, so I was not desperate for mirror finishing..!
As far as thermal properties go, I can't give you any feedback as this job was done in August..... I hope the ceramic NASA technology cuts the coolness on big landing wall... theoretically should do something positive as nano-spheres have vacuum inside to aid insulation properties & also should reflect some energy wavelengths back to inside of house....
So, will see how things go over winter months and, if necessary, re-paper over landing wall with blown vinyl paper to improve overall effects.....
