The Great Parallel
This movie to me parallels just how small and puny we humans are to the true higher power. A "messenger" comes to the earth with a solution of peace, and what do the powers that be do? Shoot him before he even explains the visit and destroys his gift of peace.
The visitor demonstrates the power that he has, and the people are not receptive to the warning, and thus suffer the consequences.
This is a great movie, with a memorable cast that we may recognize from some of the old black and white shows, such as the Andy Griffith Show, Father Knows Best, & Perry Mason which had MICHAEL RENNIE as a guest appearance as a lawyer in Season 6.
Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!

Great movie...Beam ne up Scotty!
It is a timeless classic soon to be real...And what if these space creatures that we have contacted will be eating us very soon. That's why the covid was developed by the aliens working in all our BIG PHAR tech and research centers. The OUTER LIMITS episode..."TO SERVE MAN" was a COOK BOOK!Read full review

The Day the Earth Stood Still - 1951. Excellent Sci-Fi adventure.
Excellent science fiction movies made in 1951 and in black and white.
It engages the possibility of a space ship landing in Washington, D.C. in early spring. The occupant of the ship announces that he has "come in peace and with good will", so the US Army immediately shoots him. That is where the fun begins as a giant robot appears who is programed to destroy any aggressors. The spaceman is taken to Walter Reed Hospital, and treated there. He wishes to get out among the people so that he can better understand their "unreasonable ideas". He escaped and lives in a D.C. Boarding House, where he befriends "Bobby" and his mother.
He wishes to tell all the world leaders the purposes of his visit, but he wishes to tell them of his mission all at the same time, not favoring one country over another.
He demonstrates his tremendous power by neutralizing the electric power all over the world for one half hour. However there are exceptions to this neutralization, namely airplanes in flight, hospitals, etc.
His is shot a second time by the military. The first time it was only a superficial flesh wound, the second time it is fatal. The robot retrieves his body, and takes it into the space ship and places it into a machine that restores him temporarily to life, although no guarantee as to how long this restoration will keep him alive can be given, only the "Almighty Spirit" can determine life and death
.ii can only find two soldiers who were killed by the robot during the entire movie.
This movie provides many topics for deep thought.
This 1951 edition in my opinion is excellent, there is a remake of this move in the early 2000s, which is my opinion is horrible, as it emphasized death and multiply killings of humans by the spaceman.

Great film, one of my favorite scifi films.
Great film, so glad to have a copy. A story that doesn't depend on explosions every ten seconds, but on characters. Still great to watch after decades. The DVD I purchased also had sort of a documentary on the making of the film and I learned Spencer Tracy was interested in the Michael Rennie part. While Tracy was a great actor, the casting of Michael Rennie was perfect. I took some random screenshots, sorry not the best resolution, but you can get an idea of the look of the film.Read full review

Do Not Watch the Keanu Reeves Version of This Movie
Good plot, good actors, good acting. Outdated special effects but for 1951, good enough.

The Fifties best for Scifi films!
After seeing previews of the remake I opted for a big no thank you!! Why don't they leave these classics alone!! Also Steven Spielberg "War of the World" was another example of remake madness!! Only acceptance of a great classic sci-fi fifities remake was " The Body Snatchers" with Donald Sutherland worth purchasing! I have both! The rest pure garbage! Buy the originals!Read full review

old sci-fi movies
Love the movie, they don't put them on as often as they should. Getting the old sci-fi on eBay is great you just type the name in and there they are. They make great gifts and are not expensive and you get them quick. Going to get mire. I purchased 4 others. Watched them all except for one cause if the region(2) have to buy playerRead full review
