Excellent for an Electronic Technician

This calculator is what students used in a college electronic technician learning programs and is the best to use in the work field as well. Often times these type of calculators are difficult to find in stores, so I purchased two. I lost my first TI86 calculator in a car accident while a student and had a difficult time finding a replacement in order to finish school. Now, I purchased two, just to have a extra around. These are excellent calculators to have if you work with binary systems at all.Read full review

Though it was not the worst, it should/could have been better, "IT'S AMERICAN PRODUCT IS IT NOT"

Plainly and simply, some of the characters colors were poorly tested/chosen, in a fairly well lighted environment specifically the blue colors are not the best choice for the user, who as in my case and classmates as well had without soliciting the information coincided in the same conclusion we all had troubles and had to make extra efforts to pinpoint the blue colors indicators and their ocular accuitiy "uncalled and unnecessarily challenging"Read full review

Texas Instrument Solar powered 36X calculator

I purchased this unit to replace my worn out unit which no longer displayed readable digits. I have used it everyday since purchasing it over a year ago, and it performs perfectly even under low light conditions. Highly recommended!Read full review

Hard to see, confusing steps to functions, though it has a decent amount of functions

This calculator gets the job done, for sure. Learning about the specific functions is difficult, though. I need to use this for a test in a month or so, but I imagine it'd take years (like it did with my TI-84) to know most of the functions without thinking.

Is it well designed? Eh, it's confusing and the organization (for ex. which options are the in the 2nd or 3rd tier) often doesn't make logical sense to me.

Does it have a clear display? Not exactly. Nearly always you can see the faint outline of the default numbers on the display. It is especially difficult if you're not in direct, bright sunlight - as the numbers meant to be displayed will become more faint and blend in with the background digits.

everything you need in a pocket solar scientific calculator

This calculator is not programmable but has all the usual scientific functions. It is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket and has a cover to keep it from getting all scratched up. It is also solar powered so you don't need to worry about the battery going dead at some critical moment. The keys are hard plastic which I prefer to the soft ones. I own a couple of them and have never had a problem with either one.Read full review

The right calculator for the rest of my career

These calculators are made to last. I have had one since I was in high school and it has lasted all these years (over 30+ yrs) without fail. I recently had a situation where my calculator started to fall apart so I need to replace it and to be able to have the same thing to begin with is unreal. The fact it's solar powered so no batteries is a huge plus. The features in the unit are exactly what I use every day and there aren't too many that I don't use, so no waste. I would love it if it had more memory storage locations but I can deal with the three it has.Read full review

A workhorse for engineers.

I've used the TI-36X Solar for over 20 years. I'm on my second one after the display started to fail on my first one after 20 years of intense daily use. I'm an aerospace engineer.

Good basic scientific calculator

basic higher level math, and trig functions, used one of these for over 25 years in the machine shop working trig problems daily. Solar means no batteries to buy or bleed and ruin your calculator.

Great for programmers

Since I am a programmer, the main thing I love about this calculator is its ability to translate between binary, hex, octal and decimal number systems. It also does OR, AND XOR and XNOR functions. And it never needs batteries.Read full review
