Lightweight with great features

This device worked well. Range and clarity and volumn are good enough for home studio work. The headphones are not very high quality and distort easily. I switched to a pair of studio monitor class headphones and sound was much improved. These are much less expensive than the brand name alternatives and I am mostly pleased with their performance.Read full review

Worthless

It simply did not work on stage with my band. My sound guys tried everything.
It has so much interference and static. It completely dropped out. No one could help me figure out why and there are absolutely no instruction guides anywhere to help you set up with the sound guy. The 3 sound guys I worked with could not get it to transmit to me...worthless. I can't use it.Read full review

Good value; OK sound

Good transmission distance. Plenty of overhead/volume. Sound quality is average --has diminished highs and fidelity. Sound is about like an FM station; nowhere near studio quality. This is acceptable for live and studio monitoring and still a great value compared to Shure and others.Read full review

Good Bargain Value

I have been pleased with the performance of the unit. I have used it twice, once at band practice, and once at a live show (along with just tinkering with it at home a few times). In both instances, I was able to hear the other musicians effectively. The unit has a pretty good range to it, as I was able to walk down the street from my house and still hear the music fine. The sound quality is not pristine, as there is a little bit of loss of high end frequencies, and from time to time particularly strong sounds will cause a little bit of distortion. However, the overall sound is fine. For a bargain-priced item, the unit is effective. (There is a video on YouTube that has a comparison of the unit's audio to a regular PA output. Just type in the name of the unit in the search box on YouTube and it should be on the first page of results.)

There are a couple of modifications you might need to make. The input jack on the base is stereo. If you are using a mono cable, the sound will only come out of one ear, so you need to get a mono-to-stereo adaptor plug. I also bought an additional pair of ear buds. The included ones work fine, but they can fall out on occasion, due to the wires hanging down. I bought a pair with over-the-ear clips, which stay in place more firmly. (I paid about $10 for the aftermarket ear buds, & $4 for the adaptor plug.)

Overall, I have been very pleased with the unit, and consider it a value for the price.

Simple and effective in-ear monitor system

I bought this system to ensure I could hear my voice and the mix with my guitar on a 2-channel acoustic amp. It works flawlessly and eliminates need for a monitor system that drags more wires across my stage or studio.

Pros:
1. The system is easy to install
2. Wireless helps me to eliminate tangles
3. Works flawlessly
4. Supplied connectors allow connections to just about anything
Cons:
1. None except for the expected cheap plastic construction.

I highly recommend this for artists who need to monitor volume, texture, and intonation while mixing with instruments.

Good Value for Amateur Musicians

Not wanting to spend upwards of $500-$1000 for an ear monitor unit that will only be used for practices and small gigs, I purchased this product based on other reviews posted online. The unit seems to work well and I can get the volume and mix I need through our mixing board without much of a problem. Note that the ear buds this unit comes with look cheap and I have never used them. I bought some reasonably priced Sony ear monitors (~$70) separately and used them right from the get go.Read full review

Great value. Good performance

I bought this for as stopgap Gear while doing research on more expensive systems. I was really surprised at how well it worked. I replaced earbuds with a high-end pair of 1 More earbuds. While the volume was low, the Fidelity was excellent. Planning boosting the signal at the remote receiver. The range is sufficient for small clubs in studio work so I may just stick with this unit. Downside is going through batteries. But I'm looking into rechargeable. I recommend this unit. What's 6 bands the system is expandable for very little cost. I think it's perfect for two-piece acoustics groups in small venues in live performances. I would like to see the volume control on a remote unit somewhere on the outside. Instead of concealed under the flip cover. All of the cords and adapters. were provided and were more than adequate to accommodate mixing board or interface device.Read full review

Great, inexpensive UHF wireless headphone kit

The Takstar WPM-200 is an inexpensive, UHF-band wireless transmitter/receiver package that works quite well. It's designed to transmit the headphone output from your mixing board or other audio equipment to a belt pack at about FM radio quality. It has an advertised range of 20 meters (about double that of Bluetooth), and, in the USA at least, it currently does not require an FCC license to use.

The belt-pack receiver can be used with any pair of standard, stereo earbuds (i.e. - those with a 1/8" stereo plug), so you're not limited to the pair that ships with the receiver. The volume control for the receiver is inside the battery compartment, so that you won't accidentally change the level because the unit pressed up against your belt, etc. The power switch on the receiver, likewise, requires a long-press to turn the unit on and off. Overall, I'm impressed with the thoughtfulness of the design.

Both the receiver and transmitter are made of plastic, so they're probably not rugged enough for professional use - but they're VERY inexpensive, so carrying a spare won't break the bank, either. They transmit/receive on any one of 6 UHF channels (both are set on channel 5 by default), so you could theoretically supply six different monitor mixes to your band members, each set to the individual musician's needs (lots of bass guitar in the drummer's mix, for instance), but the transmitter requires a HEADPHONE-LEVEL signal. That means a standard, line-level signal is going to sound faint at the receiver. Using a headphone-level input signal, however, you can turn the receiver volume up loud enough to be painful to listen to.

All in all, this package is an excellent value. You are NOT going to get studio-quality sound in your earbuds - but it's more than acceptable for live performnce monitoring. And that's what it's for.

(BTW - for listening to a stereo, music player, or TV, these beat most inexpensive Bluetooh units all hollow, too. To my ears, the sound is better, plus, there's no 1/2-second lag, as there is with Bluetooh audio. So the Takstar WPM-200 system can double as a wireless headphone system for home entertainment purposes, as well.)

Amateur gear but works well

This is not a pro-quality unit, as the price indicates, but it does perform pretty well in for most performance.

The receiver is made for low-impedance "ear buds", and as such can't drive a pair of high-impedance ear monitors to any kind of reasonable volume.

I added a rechargeable audio amplifier to the beltpack with velcro, and have a usable volume, but i'm still shopping for a better solution for wireless ear monitors.

Thanks

Was looking for a budget Iem system for a two piece band and that would fit on a pedalboard. This is the best out there for the value, i recommend pairing it with a personal monitor amp like the micromon or a micro mixer so you can tweak the volume there rather than on the body pack itself. Thanks, arrived on time with no problems whatsoever.Read full review
