Good value and useful to protect your carpets when painting skirting boards

Some of the old gadgets I used to use are no longer available and I reckon this is the next best thing to prevent getting paint on your carpet when doing skirting boards. The angled edges are useful when negotiating around radiator pipes. Not tried it to get straight edges when painting as I still use masking tape successfully. Reasonably priced - I bought two. The only downside I've found is that certain satin paints for wood/metal stick like glue to the plastic and you have to clean it immediately after use to remove the paint.Read full review

Not worth the effort!

I purchased this after reading the reviews but thought it seemed a good idea regardless.. it is rubbish!! Edges are very rarely straight (ceilings to walls or walls to walls) so the lines look silly. And also, you either have to slide it along without taking it off the wall or wipe it after every line, otherwise the paint bleeds through. I was open minded when buying this and it’s only a couple of quid but you get a far better finish with a roll of frog tape!Read full review

Very good painting aid.

A really good painting aid, very easy to paint the join between walls ceiling and skirting board, recommend you wipe excess paint off the shield edges frequently to avoid "carry over".

no more paint on my ceiling!

i am useless at cutting in when painting and end up with paint all over the edges of my ceiling and skirting boards, as i don't have the patience to take it steady and slow. this little plastic tool is a miracle! so easy to use and a lot quicker to paint along top and bottom of walls, as you don't have to worry about not having to have a steal hand. i would recommend this to anybody who has the same problem as me!Read full review

Poor quality product which doesn't work

On the plus side, this product is cheap, but it simply doesn't work in practical terms. In the real world, people's houses are not dead square, perfectly flat and have precise 90 degree angles between walls and floor or ceilings. The product allows paint to 'bleed' onto surfaces not intended to be painted on. In short, it is useless and a complete waste of money.Read full review

Took a bit of time getting used to it and how much paint to use but once that was done it was great. Better than my shaky old hand

If only it could shield me from painting altogether

Painting the house - repetitive [think Forth Bridge] and boring [rather be doing just about anything else].
So, a cheap little device that helps me improve my ability to do the paintwork in our house gets my vote.
My brush-wielding skills are rather limited and this paint shield works well in preventing my slap-dash over- painting. It's probably no better than the others that are out there, but is more affordable than most.

Nice straight lines finally

This is a great product. Not tried it using a brush yet, but sure does work with the paint pads. Greatly recommended.
