Wake up in style
This is a nice, stylish alarm clock which can wake you with either a buzzer or radio station of your choice (either a DAB or FM station). It has two alarms, both of which can be set to go off either weekdays only, weekends only, or every day. The volume for each alarm can be set and the snooze button allows you to press it multiple times to increment the snooze in ten minute intervals up to 60 minutes - ideal for those idle weekends.
The display is big and clear and shows the time, alarm(s) set (i.e. A or B) together with when they're set for (e.g. 8:30) and whether you'll wake up to the buzzer or radio (it shows which station will play). The date can also be displayed at the press of a button. It also has three levels of brightness or can be switched off, which is just right for those who like their bedrooms pitch black to sleep in.
It runs off the mains and has a battery backup which will retain the settings in case of a power failure. It is easy to set up, usefully picking up the time and date via the DAB radio, although you can manually adjust this if needed. Because it automatically picks the time up from the radio, it will adjust itself for daylight saving/GMT and keep fairly accurate time. Time can be shown in 12 or 24 hour mode and the date either as dd/mmm/yyyy, dd/mm/yyyy, yyyy/mm/dd or mm/dd/yyyy - a pretty expansive list which should cater for everyone's preferred style.
The radio can be tuned to either FM or DAB and can store five stations for each, any of which can then be used as an alarm. The radio can also be switched on independently, to enjoy throughout the day, or can lullaby you to sleep as it features a sleep mode which can be set to stay on for either 15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes. The sound quality is very good, it is clear to hear even at low volumes and can go loud enough to wake the deepest of sleepers.
The controls are well laid out with the main functions on the top of the clock, setting buttons on the back, with a button on the side for toggling between the date/alarm(s) display on the side. There is also a USB port on the side to charge phones etc, the output is 5 volts at 1.5 amps, so it isn't a fast-charge port, but it should cope with charging most phones and tablets.
The power is supplied via an attached adapter plug, and there is also an aerial attached for the radio.
Overall, it's a really nice alarm clock/radio which shouldn't look out of place in any bedroom. Whilst pricier than many others, it looks, sounds and feels like a premium product and shopping around can be bought and a reasonable price. Read full review

Stylish and easy to use
Have found this to be a great little alarm clock. I liked the instructions included which was a step by step process. It was easy to follow, the only thing was the weekday settings/weekend. Haven't properly sussed that out yet. All the pre-sets were easy to set. The only disappointment was the sound quality, which is slightly "tinny". I don't know if I can adjust anything on that yet. All in all a good buy.Read full review

Well designed, does everything I need
Modern look, doesn't take up much space, dual alarm, especially like the one button press dimmer feature with four brightness settings including the ability to turn off the display completely

A great choice of alarm
I love this alarm clock. Good step by step guide. I have had the Sony cube dream machine for over 15 years and only replaced it as I wanted the dab version. I love the feature that leaves the alarm playing for an an hour (I choose the radio) so that t turns itself off after that time. Would definitely recommend it.Read full review

Usual Sony High Quality
Like all electrical items new to you it takes a while to become use to function buttons. Display very clear and large. Handy to have dimming facility. The crescendo alternative alarm ( alternative to radio wake-up) is great, starts very quietly and builds steadily. It looks smart, classy quality with the grey/black contrasts and semi mirrored display front coupled with an unobtrusive size, unlike so many Read full review

Fiddly
Fiddly to use as buttons are small for older fingers. FM reception poor DAB only works at times. We do live in a low signal area.

Great Little Alarm
Only issue is, I have nerve damage in the hands and buttons a little difficult, especially the (flush) off button - so tend to use the 90/60/30/15 sec slumber button. Even so, I am actually thrilled witm my new DAB stations!Read full review

Slow waking up
It’s so nice to have the music come on and then build up the volume slowly. Much less intrusive and sudden.
