Sony MDR-XB950N1 Over the Ear Headphones - Black

Great sound but a bit bulky.

I bought these mainly for traveling on airplanes (although I am still a week away from my next flight). So far they are fine once I got the hang of manipulating the controls while wearing them. I have not used them with my phone but they work great on my computer using the cable. Although they are comfortable, I would have preferred they be a bit less bulky and fold in to a more compact shape.Read full review

Good headphones for both using and stowing.

Not only is this a great replacement for my old Sony bluetooths (DR-BT50) but they were a definite upgrade. The noise canceling is superb, with me not noticing a loud air conditioner next to me until I took them off. The controls are easy to distinguish by touch, and the battery life is equally easy to determine by pressing the power button. Wired, they're slightly quieter, but still very functional- a delight for someone who has struggled with headphones that can simply die in the middle of a long trip. The sound quality is excellent and the position of the headphones was just as comfortable for a long bike ride as it was for a quiet night in watching a movie. Nice for the price

I can compare these headphones with the Bose Quietcomfort 35, and my feeling is that overall the bass is over-emphasized in the Sony. I actually dialed it back a couple notches using the app and found the overall sound to be cleaner and more balanced, but still punchy. Treble actually seems a bit weak. Basically these are really nice-sounding, comfortable headphones if you adjust the sound to your taste using the Sony app or equalizer on your device. Excellent headphones for listening to music

The sound quality is excellent and noise cancellation works great. They fit well and are quite light weight. The only downside is they are not that great for taking phone calls. I am guessing all over the ear headphones suffer from this.Read full review

Way better sound quality then Beats by Dre! Love these head phones you can turn the xtra bass on/off and you can turn the noise canceling on/off. Over great headphones for great price😁😁

Amazing headphones.

These headphones are amazing, they are very similar to the SONY MDRXB950BT but If you love heavy bass more then I would get the 950BT's.
The noise cancelling is amazing and drowns out 90 percent of the sound around me especially this annoying loud fan.
Headphones also has app support which the 950BT's dont nor does it have noise cancelling.
I must also say these headphones have better durability, the 950BTs had this cheap plastic that can easily break or snap which it did, had to use super glue to put it back together but the 950N1 you can tell off the bat the build quality is do much better, I know if I put these on my head or drop them I wont have to worry about them breaking like the 950BTs.
Sound quality I'll give to the 950N1s because everything is balanced compared to the 950BTs which when you turn on bass boost, the bass overpowers the mids and highs.
Oyea and the 950N1s fold up while the 950BTs dont.
Overall 950N1s are hands down the best choice to get.Read full review

Great NC headphones for price

A little bulky, but the sound quality is great. Used them on a 15 hour flight to Singapore and the noise cancellation works really well. Just make sure the cups are completely sealed around your ears and the noise cancellation works great. If there is a leak, you will hear some ambient noise come through.
Extra bass for those that like it. I prefer to have it turned off.
I like the fact that these are both active and passive (ie: you don't have to have them turned on to listen to music. Work fine plugged in without Bluetooth or power on).
I have had several over the ear headphones, and one other noise cancelling headphones, and these Sony's are my favorite to date. Have not tried Bose, but the price is just more than I'm willing to spend for headphones. I would recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a good quality sounding headphone with noise cancellation for a decent price.Read full review
