Has great bass output, but not defined sounding.

These are good for what they are - and produce excellent bass output. But, they can be best described as sounding sometimes "one noted" in the low frequencies , or bloated, especially if you have the bass settings maxed out going from your EQ to them. If you do careful tuning of the eq/tone settings you can get these tamed down and they will indeed render lower frequencies quite decently, and produce sub frequencies quite well if you do careful EQ tuning on these. Midrange is quite clear, if somewhat recessed sounding and the high frequency response is also acceptable with simular qualities to the midrange performance. Both of these aspects I have no complaints against as the end result is the overall listening experience is not fatiguing , even as sustained high volume listening sessions. So all in all, can't complain about these for the price (I paid ~$22 for these), and they do rock if you ask them to!!Read full review

Mediocre & too large

Uncomfortable in ear due to size & firmness. Typical sound quality, though was researching for more proounced bass/lows with good mids & highs... Not impressed. Solid cord, really long, cheap mic.

Good Price

Right earphone is not working properly, but the price is great. Again, the right earpiece has some issues so the sound on that side is not as good as the one on the left. I have bought 3 other pairs or earphones of the same brand and exact model so I know how they are supposed to sound. Only one side really works.

That is pretty much all there is to tell about these earphones. The price that these earphones has makes me say that it was a money well spent on these earphone. They are earphones and they are cheap. You may compare the quality of the BeatsX earphones if you want, but won't be able to make a real case since the right earphone is not working properly.

Great buds for the price.

Bass is unbelievable and sounds excellent.
Really long, that's a give and take, sometimes its a bother.
I have two complaints, one is thelat the mic reception is poor, many times I tried talking with it and the other person would complain they can't hear me properly.
Two, it lacks buttons, one single button is quite a let down Sony, how hard was it to add come volume rockers here and the one button there doesn't even answer a call it just acts as play/pause.
Conclusion, just use it for music and movie purposes, not as a daily headset.

Lightweight with nice sound and great features!

Clear sound, good bass thump and tangle free cord make these a nice choice. I use them for the gym and they are not constantly falling out or pulling out of my ear and they have enough bass to make the music sound great for the workout. I really like the thicker tangle free cord and the mic for the phone is a great addition.Read full review

Great sound

I like the sound of these and the way they fit your ear. Really good low end sound. The only thing that is disappointing...and it is my own fault for not noticing...if you use them as computer ear buds the little switch does not work. I had to tape a small dowel to the button to keep the sound on full...but that does work and I like them a lot.Read full review

Great Pair of Earbuds

When looking to invest in some earbuds, I look for: Durability, Sound, Price, and sometimes Style.
I looked up Sony earbuds since Sony is a pretty good electronics brand and came across these. The earbuds I got were only $7.50 and they retailed for $30-40.

I normally use earbuds as a regular thing if I'm walking around school, on my laptop, or for when I'm in bed (asleep or not). I primarily looked for earbuds for the sole purpose of using them before I fall asleep and that is what i've been using these for (mostly).

Durability - They are flat wire, but a very thin flat wire. It's a cross between regular round wire and a flat wire. Overall, the structure of the earbuds seem and feel durable. But then again I've had earbuds that feel/look strong and have broken/fallen apart quickly.

Sound - These are advertised as Extra Bass and it has exactly that. Most music I've listened to comes out very punchy with bass. Softer music like Lana Del Rey, Daughter, Some Soundtracks sound pretty good and have quite enjoyed listening to with these earbuds. However, music like Rock, Pop, Dance, Electronic, and similar to those are a bit bass overload. It sounds like if you're listening to music that is in front of you. If that make sense.

Price -I got them for $7.50 and they are great at that price. I wouldn't pay more than $15 for them.

Style - They look pretty nice. The design is very nice and the earbuds are comfortable.

I use them primarily for falling asleep and they work perfectly for that.

Bass goes boom!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I had some Beats Tour earbuds that recently broke. I researched these for days and came across the Sony XB50. I read several positive reviews on them and decided to try them. I am very pleased with them! Sony is a very good brand that delivers. The first thing I like about these is the fact you don't have to shove them in your ear canal. The second is the bass is quality and not overwhelming. Lastly, they stay in your ears while working out. I will definitely buy another pair as the price for the quality can't be beat!Read full review

This is my "Go To" everyday Earbuds...

So, what do you want in a good earbud headset? As far as I am concerned, this Sony MDR-XB50AP checks all of the boxes. It is the most comfortable and durable of the under $30 earbuds that I have found. The sound quality is way above average and is good enough for everyday listening. I only have 2 complaints. It does not have a volume control and it will eventually break (but still it does last a long time before doing so). Also, watch out for fake versions of this earbuds (the way you can tell that it's fake is by the extra light weight and the poor sound quality). I always have these in my ears, so when I say I really like them I am being very serious with my words.Read full review

Good sound and comfortable.

As someone who uses earbuds everyday it is important for them to be comfortable and have good sound. This item fills the bill and at a reasonable price. Having had them for a short amount of time it remains to be seen how long they will serve. Sony is a good product so I am hopeful.Read full review

Good for price.

These earbuds are good! The sound is above average for the price but bass was a bit misleading i was expecting these to have more bass than my $20 skullcandys from Walmart but they don't have any more bass. But the over all sound is better and they fit better. The shipping was average and the carrying pouch that it comes with is decent along with the ear tips. But I was a bit bummed out with the bass.Read full review
