99% but sort out the eye-detect. please

I am not qualified to write camera reviews, you will find plenty of those on the internet, so I make two points I've not seen covered in any of them.
The view finder switches on (when extended) when it detects the photographer's eye close by. Great for saving battery life. Problem is that in certain lighting conditions it can't make its mind up whether the eye's still there and switches off while you're still trying to frame the shot. Quite maddening.
If you have finished with the viewfinder don't retract it - that will switch the camera off which is just a little annoying.
The auto-focus on this (and possibly all) camera(s) isn't all that intelligent when in point-and-shoot mode. But this is just a niggle, the camera so is programmable to the nth degree and it's easy to by-pass too much automation.
Otherwise it's everything Sony says it is in the ads.Read full review

First thoughts Sony RX 200 mark iii

Straight out of the box and in auto mode, this camera will produce great images . When up against tricky light or subjects that are moving, the camera is very capable but I found accessing the settings required to take such complex shots can be fiddly and time consuming. That said, you can preselect and save some settings in advance. I may be being unfairly judgmental as I am coming from using a very capable SLR and it’s is fair to say that for the sake of weight saving I should expect some reduction of usability. Once you get used to the multi level menu system for finding the settings you need, you will find everything you required is there somewhere. This is a superbly designed and engineered camera that sits nicely in the hand, has the ability to capture great images and also has many nice touches to it. The camera is also very capable of producing hi quality video but this is not why I purchased this so I am not going to comment.Read full review

Ideal travelling camera

This small digital camera is ticking all my boxes:
- compact, it fits into a pocket. This is a main criteria for comfortable travelling
- high quality pictures due to large sensor and superior Zeiss lens
- large aparture for low light shots
- electronic viewfinder for accurate focussing and high incidental light
- rich in functions, although I rely on the 3 automatic settings, the camera is smart enough

Great photos, good intelligent functions, zoom not the greatest but actually good enough for most purposes.
Selfie ability is very good indeed.
Don't actually use the viewfinder in practice, but in sure it would be good for a more enthusiastic photographer.

Cybershot rx100 mk3
