I was in need of a new machine after 20 years and am pleased at the robustness and quietness of the singer. It is light enough to carry and move around the home if needed. I even went out and bought a full set of feet. I like all the fittings and options and especially the self threading which was easy to do. My only gripe and it is a very menial one is that the cover could have been of a better quality for the protectiveness when not in use, Overall I am very happy :-)Read full review

Casing cheap and nasty but it works

The casing and extension table are flimsy and it is quite noisy too. I think the only good thing I can say is that it works. It's not even a patch on my vintage machines although this one does zig zag stitching. Read full review

A great piece of kit for a great price

I had been looking at the 4411 so was especially pleased to get the 4423 at such a great price. Worth it

Geat option instead of going industrial.

A long with a lot of other people I wish I had bought this sooner. A great solution if you don’t have a lot of room and don’t want to bug your husband with a noisy motor. It has completed the re-upholstery of a camper van with rubber backed fabric, plus Velcro, without a hiccup. Easy needle threading absolutely wonderful. Happy sewing!

Workhorse

This machine makes pudding out of tough work. I have gone through several less strong machines over the years, always to be disappointed. Hopefully no more. Yes, it is pedal driven, unlike some other machines. And that is a shame, but that is the only draw back. The body is solid and it weighs a bit more with less fancy stitches. But, it does what it needs to, and that us sew. The dogs can be lowered for free style quilting. Went through felt as easy as thick denim with stuffing and other fabrics.
