Capable wide-range dérailleur but heavily sprung and finicky to set up
I bought this der to accommodate an 11-40 cassette on a triple setup. My first realization was that the return spring was too strong to work with my older shifters - very difficult to upshift especially from the highest gears. I got a pair of new shifters which work better, but were still difficult to set up for accurate shifting up and down - these are mid-grade shifters but should work OK being brand new. I am still unable to through the gears without failed shifts on either the up or down side - can be adjusted for one way but not both. It may be better suited to a 1X setup with a small chainring. BTW with wide range cassettes this will very likely require an extender like a goat link or similar, and a longer b-screw to keep the lowest gears from contacting the upper pulley. My setup wouldn't work at all without them. Thanks, cobRead full review

Got Hills?
Upgrade your Shimano 10sp road bike drivetrain with this derailleur and a big cog cassette of your choice, for those steep grades. I set this up on a 50/34 compact crank and 11-34 cassette on my girlfriend's bike, as well as on our tandem with a 52/39/30 triple crank and 11-32 cassette. Both work well. The derailleur does not have provision for a cable adjusting barrel, so one has to add that at some other point in the cable housings.Read full review

Just as great as Shimano XT can be!
Just as great as Shimano XT can be! Arrived very fast, the product is top notch, it even has ceramic bearing, its light and precise. Very happy with the purchase. Was worth to upgrade my Deore to this one.Read full review

Excellent!
Simply a great piece of gear that shifts quickly and stays quiet on pretty rough trails. Way quieter than my old Deore, even my buddies noticed a difference within 10 minutes. Paired up with a Saint shifter and XT cassette, should've made the switch years ago.
Rides are a lot more enjoyable when you don't have to worry about shifting problems. Read full review

big difference
Cannot believe the difference I've noticed with upgrading from my SLX model. Even with the SLX shifter still in use, the improvement has been great.

Refreshed XT
I replaced an XT deraileur on a 2007 bike and this modern one was an exact fit. My old one had a tired spring and was dropping chains a lot. After replacing the derailleur I have yet to drop the chain after about two hours of hard riding and jumps.Read full review

Shimano quality
Replaced a Sram X7 that was almost impossible to remove the back wheel. This Shimano eliminated that problem. Another plus is that it is 250 grams lighter than the Sram. It shift really good with Sram XO grip shifters.Read full review
