Fantastic and affordable rival for the Roomba i7

This robot, while maybe not quite as intelligent as a Roomba, does an excellent job of mapping and cleaning our home. We needed to update the firmware when we received it to resolve some initial issues we were having, and we had to turn on the charge & resume and the empty frequently features so it could clean our entire home. Once we made those changes, the mapping and charge/resume functionality works as we would expect and the entire main level gets cleaned properly.

We get about a week of cleans before we need to clean the dock's bin, and in that week it has accumulated a large amount of dust and hair. We have three girls with lots of hair and two cats, and since we've started using this robot, the floor is actually clean every day!

I also will note that the Roomba is significantly louder than this robot on "Normal" suction mode. This is helpful if you happen to be home when the robot is running, it isn't as disruptive to conversation or concentration.

Finally, I will mention that sometimes it seems as though the cleaning patterns of the robot are odd, but reviewing the cleaning history on the map and the resulting cleanliness of the house, it is doing a great job.Read full review

Cleans my house reliably and wow do I love the self-emptying dust cup

I've tried 3 different brands: Roomba, Roborock, and Shark. Shark has been the one that can navigate and clean my house reliably. I bought this one to replace one that was fried in a freak voltage surge at my house (outside tree fell on the power line). I was pleasantly surprised how much I saved buying it here rather than on other big-name online stores. At that price, I kind of expected it would be refurbished, but it appeared to be brand new and most importantly, it works great.

Note: the manual says you have to have 3 feet clear on either side of the charging station, but I was having a bit of problem finding that much clear wall space next to an outlet. So I tried tucking it into a niche and the robot seems to have no problem finding its dock.Read full review

Very good vacuum...not perfect, but worth buying!

First let me say, yes, I would recommend this product. However, you should know what to expect. Our house is 50% Hardwood and 50% Carpet. The Shark IQ dues a very good job on both surfaces. While it does not do as good as a dust mop on the hard surfaces, it doesn't leave much behind at all, and a second time through, seems to get everything. Since we run our Shark daily, it never gets very bad at all. We do have two dogs and after the first couple of days, it seemed to have caught up...and kept up. Since it has been running daily, after the second or third day, I have never had to comment that we need to run the vacuum.

Not a con, necessarily, but the vacuum does get clogged...frequently. While the reviews are true, the roller does stay hair free, the collection chamber in the vacuum tends to get full with lint and hair. When it goes to the base to auto-empty, sometimes it doesn't get quite all of it. I have just made the decision to weekly clean the collection chamber (which is extremely easy).

The auto empty bin is a lifesaver. I don't know what I would do if I had to empty the vacuum manually daily. Well, yes I do, I wouldn't run it daily... However, again, the collection chamber sometimes gets clogged more than it will easily empty so occasionally (rarely) you will have to use something to free up the collected debris. It doesn't happen often, and again, it's very easy to do.

Finally, the only real con I have is that the unit tends to get trapped in a few places, especially under furniture (beds, etc). It seems like it can find its way in, but can't find its way out. It happens about once a week that I have to go find it, free it up, and send it to the dock (Don't carry it!!!). Minor inconvenience, but still less hassle than vacuuming manually! You will learn what you need to move to make it better, but if you have furniture placed close together, you might want to block those areas off with the bumper strips that come with the unit.

Again, I would definitely recommend this vacuum to anyone. But don't expect a miracle that you can set it up and forget about vacuuming forever. That isn't going to happen.

I like using this for my parents because I can visit once a week or every couple weeks to empty the main unit. It maintains itself well unsupervised most of the time. Robot Camera via App Wont Work in the Dark

The ad doesn't say you have to keep the light on to be able to use the room by room program and I verified this with the manufacturing tech. Without light, the vacuuming will be random. Due to not trusting the vacuum wont get stuck, I have to schedule this to work in the evening before I get home; so it can't fit my needs of operating in the dark. Excellent little vacuum - I have I used several other models and the Sharq IQ is by far the best so far, including the iRobot.
Several points worth mentioning:
After the robot maps the whole area to be vacuumed, the phone app allows you to edit and divide the area into smaller rooms. Then you can just vacuum a specific section of the area, a room. I couldn't do that with the iRobot app.

You can also schedule only sections of the area (a room) instead of vacuuming the whole area. So if you have a corner that gets dirtier faster than others, you can schedule to vacuum only that corner. Again, I couldn't do that with others.

The self-cleaning brush really works well. We have 3 cats and with the iRobot, the roller would have to be cleaned every few vacuums. With the Shark IQ, the roller really doesn't get tangled with cat hairs, not sure how they do it but it really works as advertised.

The self-emptying base is FANTASTIC. The vacuum cleans, and when it's done the tray gets suctioned out clean. Then only need to empty the base when is full or after a several vacuums have been done.

The robot has 2 front brushes - where my iRobot had only one. This actually makes a lot of difference when vacuuming. Both brushes work really well and in sync to bring the debris into the center for the vacuum for the roller to catch in and the robot to sucked it in.

I am very impressed with this little vacuum. Very glad with my purchase.
