Easy to use waiting to see how well it works

I have only just used the fabric protector spray on my new off white sofa so I don't know yet how well it will resist splashes and stains. However, it was easy to use and the instructions were clear. The price for a packet with two cannisters was good value in comparison to other offers.Read full review

Disappointed

I srayed both of my brand new armchairs, 24 hours later I did a test by dribbling a small amount of water on an area but the water just soaked into the fabric. I gave 2 stars as it was easy to use.

Does what it says on the tin

Scotchguard is meant to provide a barrier to prevent or reduce staining. It's easy to apply as per instructions, and the product's smell diminishes over a period of about 36 hours or less in an airy setting. I haven't found it alters the colour or feel of soft furnishings or garments.
It's impossible to say if it works as it needs to be tested over months of wear but I believe it does serve as a repellent.Read full review

Very disappointed

Haven previously (10 years ago) used this product I had no hesitation in buying it again but am not at all satisfied with the results.

I tested the spray on samples of the material to make sure it was colour fast then used it but it has no water resistance whatsoever.

I have coated material ( used on loose furniture covers) and also on test strips - 3 coatings provide no more water resistance than sample with no coatings.

Easy to use, once the sofa has been cleaned and is dry just spray on evenly and leave to dry for a couple of hours then spray again. I found one can covered the wearing surfaces of a two seater seater (I didn’t do the back). Do use in a well ventilated area as the product has a strong chemical smell which dispersed after 24 hours.Read full review

OK for older jackets

New nylon and polyester jackets have a really waterproof resin which makes water splashes "bead". This spray makes an older, washed jacket more waterproof than no treatment, but not as good as a new jacket.Read full review

Scotch-Guard waterproof protector
