SGS 9.6CFM 50 litre air compressor
Considering its price, this was a surprising product. It works perfectly, and while loud, was quieter than I was expecting. The meters seem accurate, and the quick release fittings are of good quality. My only complaint is the plastic handle. Quite frankly, it feels very flaky and if anything will break on this unit, it will be this. The wheels and feet need fitting by you, but anyone who has a need for an air compressor will obviously not find this a problem. The manual is good, if not amazing. The protection plugs fitted to the oil filler and air intake need removing on arrival, and they are a complete pain to get out. You need quality pliers. To NOT try to pry them out... it won't work, so save yourself some aggro and just use decent pliers. Valve cut off cuts in slightly early, but rather that than too late. Only one output is regulated. This is common on such a unit, but the ad, or website doesn't make this clear. The way it is packaged makes the plastic surround susceptible to damage, and mine arrives with a slight crack. It doesn't affect anything, and personally I was not bothered, but you should check for damage on arrival. Tank certification plate showed 2021 manufacture date. Drain plug is located bottom dead centre where it should be unlike its main competitor (the yellow one named after a wild canine ;)). Off centre ones are useless for moisture drainage, and you should remove all moisture after every use to prevent corrosion.
All in all, it is well worth the money. It just about managed to run my blast cabinet at 50psi with a 5mm nozzle, which is a worst use case scenario for a compressor of this size and price, and it has MORE than enough CFM for paint spraying and air tools. Misleading advert product direct from PRC (China)
When recently looking for a 50 litre compressor I chose SGS for the advert description seemed to suggest that it was. British assembled in own workshop and referral to German standard safety, etc., but all I got was a box securely strapped closed with clear labelling made in PRC (China) which has obviously been bought in bulk and only distributed. Product bog standard compressor but with weak plastic handles surrounding which are definitely sub standard to the Wolf compressor we already have on the farm.
Compressor works fine so far (month old) but consistent handling will definitely see the week plastic handles fall apart.Read full review

Compressor 50L
Having destroyed my little clarke one I thought it time to invest in something bigger. The SGS one was the best priced for the size (didnt want 2nd hand as it can be more hassle than its worth). The only issue thats worth taking into account if you need it up and running asap is that it drops all its oil in the packaging so you will need some more. It would be great if SGS also added some for you but they dont. It comes with the euro connectors not the pcl ones (again it would be great if they offered a choice!)
As for running and amount of water in the system, its really good and hasnt done a thing wrong yet.
Worth buying one if your in the market for a good compressor but dont want to spend a fortune! Read full review

Brilliant piece of kit
***update 4 years on*** Compressor is still working well, I did knock the plastic air filter off but it's had a few rough days so can't complain. Definitely still agree that it'd stand light workshop use, it's been set at 115psi for the last 3+ years and I have changed the crankcase oil twice in this time and that's the only maintenance (aside from draining moisture) that it's had or needed.***end***

a mid-weight with great features and convenience
I haven't had it long, but was mightily impressed with the machine, fairly quiet in use which was better than I was expecting. A definite plus point.
Plenty of capacity and with the short, quick couplings which I was pleased with.
The wheels and buffers (underneath) are self assembly so you will need appropriate spanners. Fitting these things can be a little fiddly so having somewhere or something to support the compressor while you assemble these bits would make life a little easier and more convenient.
Moving it around by the handle was fairly easy and comfortable to do. I had a smaller machine before this and that was awkward due to its weight and smaller size. So another plus point. It more or less fitted within the space that that machine occupied which I was also please with.

This is great little compressor for the price used it to spray paint small items, blow car tyres up and clean saw dust etc off tools. Only issue so far was a loose connection leaking air but was easy to tighten up.

I ordered this to replace a dead 25l compressor. It arrived early, Its heavy but you expect that. It was easy to assemble and to add oil. I have only used it a couple of times. Its (relatively) quiet in operation comes to pressure quickly and overal for a budget machine it is good and I have no complaints so far and I am not expecting any.Read full review

Brilliant Machine
This is a brilliant machine, bought it for my farther to replace his last compressor and it is perfect, Nice design, easy to move around with no long handles sticking out, well balanced which adds to the ease of moving it around.

Great compressor
Used it today for paint spraying car and works great. It is loud but not much louder than the cosmos, 25l I had.
Couple of little niggles. Nothing that should stop you buying what is a well priced and sturdy compressor. But as feedback.
It would be good if the compressor came with the quick release female connectors for the hose. They are only a couple of quid in halfords so even if you charged a bit more to supply with it, it would help. The quick release valves I had for the air tools were not the same so was a bit annoying I couldn't use it straight away until I got right one.
Other one is there is no shut of valve on the connectors that you can turn. If as mine do there is a slight air leak from the tools. Then when you switch off it drains the air unless you unplug hose. It would be good to have a knob you can turn to shut off air so it is retained for the next use.
