Rotel RA840 B or BX

You must replace electrolytic capacitors on these old amplifiers preferably eith decent audio grade types also clean all switches with appropriate electronic cleaner. Bias must be checked and reset to factory settings. After this the Rotel with sound ad good or better than new.
I have serviced a few of these I recommend Siemens Sikorel 10,000 Uf 63v main smoothing capacitors these are large and have to be mounted off board I also replaced all wiring from RCA pcb to main pcb with sheilded OFC cable replaced speaker connections eith new gold platef 4mm sockets. This vintage of Japanes hardware predates integrated circuits, so the spacious case is easy to acces discrete electronic components for servicing. The only immediately apparent fault was a loose wore in the mains plug.Read full review
