How do you tell?

The product was obviously old. The container was swollen the powder was all clumped together. As far as how did it work? I can't get into my septic lines to see.

Great product but not properly packaged to prevent moisture.

This product works as described if it is properly packaged and stored. The bottle I received had been exposed to moisture so the "powder" was a hard wad, like a rock. I have used this product for years, and it works to keep roots out of the septic lines. It even killed a bush that infiltrated the lines. I have stored it for long periods of time, but never had this issue. I broke up the contents with a screw driver and plopped it in the commode. It did foam somewhat.Read full review

Time will tell

Too early to tell if this product does what it claims...i.e. Kill sewage related roots and prevent their regrow th for 6 to 9 months. Huge roots were growing into my home sewage treatment plant clogging up everything. I hag to dig up the system, open it up and literally saws-all out 40-60 lbs of pine tree roots to get it flowing again. I had never heard of ROOT KILLER and subsequently emptied 4 lbs of it into my house plumbing and/or directly into the treatment tank after mechanically removing the root mass. So far so good, but only time will tell. I plan to retreat in 6 months. The e-bay 6lb product was by far the best price/lb anywhere.Read full review

No clogged drain pipes.

I’ve been using this for years after one day my shower backed up while washing clothes.
